You need to get laid. Perhaps you'll have a kid. Then you can listen to said kid play the guitar.

Your best and nicest post ever. +10000
Nick, this is why when I was doing my fuktard calculations, I went with post rate. You have the day you joined and how many posts since then, use that to figure out how you compare. If your post rate is close to those you despise, you probably should look in the mirror.

Also ,"greatest guitar player that ever lived " is a subjective term. Greatest at what? Malcom Young and Keith Richards are the 2 greatest rhythm player in rock and roll, and songwriting is their sole aim. Do they get props? Tony Iommi lost his fingers in an accident and subsequently created a new genre of music that may be the most distinct influence ever. Hendrix changed the landscape, yes, and so did Eddie . I don't know. It's subjective. I think Jeff Beck is as good as any rock player that ever lived, but then again someone else might say Steve Vai or even Zappa.

I said "guitarist that never was". There were only about 2 years of real Duane Allman music and he was just getting started. All those other players had semblances of careers because they lived past 24. Albeit Jimmy didn't last much longer, but he did have a career. Both Jimmy and Eric said Duane was the about the best there was at the time. There is a reason Eric let Duane play lead and closing slide on Layla (yes - that's not Eric playing on Layla).
Again, this isn't about me. I'm great! Am great, doing great, being great. It would be nice if every post didn't dissolve into the crap fest it always does here. It would be nice if Rich didn't make a kooky fruit loop post for every little crazy thought that pops into that Walnut brain of his.
That's all. Carry on.

i have a slide my dad got from Duane Allman in 1970.. dad was really good at slide guitar...
odd how no one has said anything about SRV, which i consider to be the best ever...
Eh. He was real good, but he didn't break any new ground. To me in order to be the best of the best you have to launch a thousand ships. So Ace Frehley for the win!!

If that's true, you got something really special. They don't make those original Coricidin bottles any longer. You can buy a cheap knockoff bottles, but it's not an original bottle nor one that Duane actually used.

Vaughan's sound is what does it for me, he is the only guitarist that i can tell from any song played who it is... he could even be doing things with other artists and you can always tell who was playing... (actually, Angus is another one, but its ACDC as a whole that makes him always noticable who is playing)
that and the Texas Flood at the Mocambo was lights out one of the best performances of anyone, ever...
its actually kinda close for me for a lot of people, Hendrix, SRV, King, Vai, Beck, Betts, Angus, Berry, Buckethead, hell even Slash is pretty damn good, just a lot of stuff done by some i dont like as much as others...
Nick, yes its real... fvcked up thing is i dont remember where it is around here, might be in the safe, who knows at this point....
my dad was a very good guitar player, from finger picking, to slide, to blues, rock, whatever... everyone that got to see him play were always amazed.. i have some old tapes around here that he did studio work with a guy named Mondo that lived up north... not sure where that is either...
i miss my dad...

Duane Allman literally invented Southern rock on March 26th, 1969.

Now that is a treasure for sure! Very cool! I consider the "best" to be a matter of preference. Hard to argue against Stevie though, despite what kind of music one is into. That said, Robin Finck gets my vote.

I think Peter Green runs circles around Clapton but it's just my opinion. And Nick I was referring to SRV not breaking new ground, and he was outstanding. Duane was an original for sure!
So I knew many of you retards would rattle off your favorite guitar players as "the best". Kinda like your favorite president. Or political affiliation. So narrow.

It's a wrap.
David Gilmore is one of my favorites, but I would never call him the best. Maybe top 5 for me though.
All subjective Brother.

I have it on vinyl. The cover is disturbing.
The trouble with these folks(a lot of them) is they claim musical knowledge, but some of us know whats really going on! I should dig out some of my jazz fusion stuff. I have some great Chick Corea and Weather Report and George Benson ,so many LPs that I don't listen to because I have so damn many!

Yer' just afraid of liking his skin flute too much. An "awakening" if you will... Same reason you have Kenny G on vinyl stored in your "closet".
Anyway.... Boz & Duane Delaney & Bonnie & Duane Eric & Duane Aretha & Duane Wilson & Duane Herbie & Duane Percy & Duane King & Duane and on and on and on...
I'm sensing a pattern here that's backing my original claim.

I don't think I own any Kenny G,but I will admit I own some Christopher Cross on vinyl, and he's a good musician. Be open minded Nick. You might like Herbie Mann.
Thanks man! I'd heard of these session tapes before - so I much appreciate the hook up. I'm 15 minutes in and my house is rockin'. 100% this is gonna be my 4th of July yard work theme music tomorrow...
