It's looking like Newsom's recall vote is going to be pretty close.

A weird quirk of California's recall process...their Governor can be removed with 50.1% of the vote, and then be replaced by someone who gets 10% or less of the vote...so someone who is supported by 49.9% of the electorate can lose to someone who gets a fraction of that support.

They should probably automatically add the current Governor to the list of potential governors when they get to part two of the ballot.

Looks clear to me that this will fail. In the latest survey over 49 % of the people declined to choose a new candidate, saying they will leave it blank or have not made a choice yet. I would guess those who are leaving it blank are most likely going to vote against the recall. That can not be good for those looking for a recall.

There was a lot of traction early on but it seems to have lost steam. The D propaganda machine convinced enough people that he isn’t that bad of a guy and coupled with people’s horrible abilities to remember how awful “rules for thee but not for me” Newsom was, I would guess he remains in office.
