This is my favorite home river thus the name humptime. One fish this year is all I have to show. Very poor showing this year. I personnally believe it poor due to the floods several years ago. Last time I floated it, it was crystal clear and I only saw 4 fish, 2 of them where cancerous silvers, and 2 where steelies. From what I heard the nooch and satsop are kicking a few fish out, which is more then I can saw for the hump. I suppose if you want to fish stevens creek elbow to elbow you may get into some fish.

I called fish & game the other day in monte and they said there out of the hump, but not the chehalis there still there 4 days a week, This river is going to crap for steelies, because in the mid 70s and early 80s you could always go down there and at least catch a steelie, and Im not talking stevens creek. this river used to yeald 5000 fish back then. Dad used to drop me off in the morn and Id catch fish all day, and he would pick me up in the eve and I would have fish for dinner. Its not like that any more. Come on fish an game lets get this river back in shape like the nooch. GET THE DAMM NETS OUT OF THERE !!!!!!

A friend and I fished the Hump yesterday across from Steven's creek from 6:30am to 8:30am. We did not see any fish. There was less than a dozen people fishing the area. The river was low and clear. I also fished it the previous saturday. I landed 1 downriver fish, 1 6lb buck, and 2 jack steelhead. That day there were 10-12 other fish hooked but not all landed and some were jacks. I talked to a local while down there. He said it has been real spotty this year and only a fraction of what it was last year. He also told me that the hatchery is cutting production. They are only keeping 80,000 eggs and not stocking any future summer smolts. Also instead of releasing the excess fish into the creek they are killing them. They planted 133,400 smolts for this winters run.

There have been more steelhead taken this year by sport then nets this year. In fact, even thought it is open for netting wed. thru mon. no one is fishing.
