I know this is the 4th go around on this but this is important. This saturday I am putting on a native plant salvage in Machias. The site is located at 1601 Machias Rd(Lk Stevens). Parking will be at the ball park @16th st & Machias Rd. Park and walk up the driveway(follow the sign) and into the site. This will start @0900 hrs and go until approx 1400 hrs. All you need to bring is yourself and a pair of gloves. All the plants salvaged off this site as well as other sites throughout the county will be used this coming fall for restoration projects. The summer of 2002 this site will be cleared for construction of softball and soccer fields as part of the county parks system. This salvage season approx 4,000+ plants have been saved from the bulldozer here. Every plant salvaged saves the taxpayers a minimum of $5 each and will benefit fish as well as our environment. All i'm asking for is 5-6 hours of your time. A small price for a large benefit.
