Was thinking about trying that gammy line on my spinning rod this summer.
For those of you who have used it how do you rate it?

Bought some in a pinch once when it was the only 10# on the shelf (small store in BFE). Used it once before it began to come apart and had to replace it. Maybe it sat on the shelf too long. I use their hooks but won't be buying any of their line for a while. 24 more days...better get something on that spool

Terrible knot strength, not very abrasion resistance, and a delicious treat for UV. Waste of money.

Whoa!!
I think its the best finesse line out there; emphasis on finesse. I use it on my light action spinning gear (6-10lb rod) during the summer. Its soft, thin diameter, and very well behaved on a spinning reel; you can fit over 100 yds of 10 lb on any 2000 series Shimano. And its a hell of lot stronger than Trilene XL. Also disagree with those who say it has poor knot strength.
Strength wise, it doesn't compare to the thicker, stiffer lines met for casting reels like Maxima and Trilene XT, so I wouldn't dream of using it on an 8-12 or 10-17 lb rod. This is like comparing apples and oranges in my opinion. But for that August/September low water, bright sky, light weight, summer-running, you can't beat it.
Has anyone out there used the new Maxima finesse line (forget what its called). I'm thinking of trying it this summer, as well.

I tried the gammy line and considered it poor in the following categories, overall a weak line; bad knot strength; and bad abrasion resistance.
If your looking for a good spinning reel line try Ande Tournement in the 10 and, although I did not like it on my baitcaster,Maxima Perfexion seemed to have the qualities of a good spinning line if you remember to beef it up a little.

I tried it on my noodle rod for a couple trips and through it out. It had too much stretch. I use Ande when drift fishing and Fireline when float fishing.

Dont waste your time on gammy, it breaks way to easy. its just crap, I think that the new maxima perfexion, and izor line work real well for me on spinning reels, did real well on steelies with izor last winter, perfexion wasnt out yet. but it did well for springers at 20lb test with 15lb dia, not bad line. Izor may feel a little strechy for you.

I agree with fishnbear, Izorline is about as tough as you can get but has some memory and the new Maxima perfexion is a nice limp line that worked well for me last winter.

Rich I agree with Obsessed. I've used 10lb Gammy for a couple years, and landed many steelhead on noodle rods and it has performed great. I wouldn't have bought a 3000Yd service spool if it didn't. I've tried Perfexion 15lb and like it for winter conditions.
