How does SSN catch deadbeat dads?

Does the Fishing License computer system refuse a license to deadbeat dads, or is it a just means of locating them? If it just locates them, then can he just use his drivers license address (which has probably been ineffective in enforcing child support payment) anyway? Assuming the guy is refused a license, can he just go to another shop, use another SSN or buy an out of state license? Is BIG BROTHER really watching that closely? What about dead beat moms . . .??
Ryan, you mentioned that you sell licenses, if you read this please reply.

It refuses to issue a license if there is a cetain amount of back child support owed under that SSN number. This same process is now used by the DOL when issuing drivers licenses and ID's. It is a federal law that all states must go to this system within a certain amount of years or they lose a certain amount of funding. If you provided a bought a fishing license this year, you will not be asked for your SSN number again when purchasing a fishing license. It is stored into a database and us license dealers have no way of looking it up or viwing it. In fact, no one is suppose to be able to look it up and view it but do we realy trust our government??? A quick hint as Timber Man talked about in the previous post. The system requires a SSN number meaning it requires you to give the dealer a 9 digit number. The computer will not not issue a license if the SSN is not valid. The SSN just can not be traced back to a deadbeat parent. I know many people who did not provide their SSN but still were issued a license and have yet to run into a problem

Big Gov't is going to find you one way or another down the road, so forging a SSN is just going to hurt you down the road if they ever run your license, since they are really doing that here in WA now (because of forged SSN's) I am in full support of this program. This is for all the single-parent mothers (and fathers mind you) who have gotten the shaft (literally) and the other parent decides to be free and void of all responsibilities as a spouse and parent. Nuh uh, it don't work that way Being a product of a broken home with a deadbeat dad (at the time) not paying child support, you'd want to help anyway you could. Ever since the Clinton Administration, gov't is starting to pursue DBD's, and all I can say is it's about time. Giving a SSN, logs you into a nat'l database that updates your location in the country...same as having a telephone bill in your name, or any other bill for that matter.

Then what your saying y'all is that we don't need it on our fishing liecence if it is already logged in in other ways!!I don't give my SSN out unless its to an employer or for credit reasons..NOBODY else needs my SSN its suppose to be a private # and its intensions wasn't to pick up deadbeat dads when it was started..This deadbeat dad ploy they are useing is just a way for all you bleeding hearts to except it.TM

This "private number not intended for this" outcry is silly. The First Amendment wasn't created with the porn industry in mind. The Second Amendment was not created with handguns in mind, let alone semi or fully automatic weapons. Laws and such are written to last, as good ones tend to do. As as society changes, so do the interpretation of the laws.
Of COURSE Social Security numbers were not invented so that "Big Brother" could catch deadbeat parents. Sixty five years ago there really wasn't a problem with deadbeat parents because people tended to have more honor than that.
In a perfect world we wouldn't need to use Social Security numbers to track down parents who avoid their responsibility in paying child support. It should be common sense to take care of your children by providing to them what they need.
I'm not saying that the custody process or the child support process is perfect. A friend of mine's daughter was killed in a drunk driving accident, and their 7 year-old granddaughter was "awarded" (that word sucks when it's referring to people) to the father of the child who had not given a rats ASS about her all during her life, up until the death. The little girl should have gone to the grandparents she lived with her whole life, but that didn't happen.
In time, the Social Security number will likely fade away with the whole SS system. At that point we will likely be tracked by our fingerprints, retinal scans, or something similar.

Just like I said it is excepted by you bleeding hearts heywood!! To each his own they didn't get my SSN for my fishing liecense and never will. Its just like the tracking systems in cars, its not to help you when your broke down or help recover a stolen vehicle its biggest intention is to some day for the government to know where you are at all times. Why must all you folks be bull****ed so easy when it comes to this type of thing.Don't you think the government already has enough control. Maybe all you folks that like government total control so well go live in government housing give your whole paycheck to them and let them feed you..No freedom just work for your government.. Me I will try to keep my freedom and hope God comes before this all happens. So next time you guys who like all these government control things vote Socialist next time but I guess if you voted democrat then you already did!!! I'm for privacy as much as the next freak, but what it comes down to is this: if the US government wants to find out stuff about you, they will. They know where you live, they know where you work, they likely know if you like your toilet paper loaded over or under.
There are far more important infringements on your freedom that you should be worried about instead of whether you give your SS# to some clerk to get your fishing license. For starters, check out the link in my signature. Dmitry is being accused by the FBI of "aiding in the trafficking of pirated software", and all he did was present a security analysis of Adobe's ebook format at a security conference. He's been locked up for over two weeks now without anyone being able to contact him; not his wife and children, not the Russian embassy, NO ONE.
He is but a sign of the future, my friends. If an American was arrested in, say, China for giving educational presentations it would be all over the news and the US government would be flexing all over the damned place (gee, does this sound familiar?). Instead, we are the captors. And the vast majority of Americans don't know anything about it.

Bleeding heart? Yeah, I guess I am a bleeding heart.....that likes to shoot his guns, catch his fish, and make fun of hippies. Timber - you only give your SSN once, and once only. Of course, if you try to get one in another state, they'll ask for it then too. It in no way gives your address, the size of your BVDs, or how long you've been suscribing to Playboy. It just tells them the last state you were at...even then, it doesn't really do a good job. It just gives a heads up to the district attorney for that state, county, and city, etc. Easy with the conspiracy theory, big guy. This is a good thing. I guess you have to work with gov't or be a product of a broken home to really see the sunshine. You have a valid argument, but for now, this is govt's best way of punishing/finding deadbeat dads. You are a good father; you have nothing to worry about....except whether or not your kids will be brainwashed by MTV one day
