Between the four of us, we ended up with 1 tiny coho. Had a few good take-downs, but nothing would stick for more then a head shake or two. Probalby more cohos.
We were in a sled without down riggers, so we were all using 6-8 ounce leads, 8' leaders with cutt plug herring.
The 5:00 am dogfish bite was phenominal. Once that died down, fishing was slow. I only saw about a dozen kings landed. The checker at the Alki Boat Launch gave us figures that showed approx 1 fish per boat.
How did you all do on Saturday? If you did well, where were you, how deep were you fishing, and what tackle did you use? Did you use downriggers or not? I think the key was the riggers, as the fish we spotted were down deep, and most people we talked to with Kings said they got them deep (100+ feet).
Anyone got a spot in their boat for me? I'd love another shot at an Elliot Bay King. All I can provide are some hooks, some bait (if needed), some gas money, some stories, and some company.

Hey Parker, nice to see you got one, your the only one out of the eight of us to get any. Sorry I didn't officialy introduce myself, but things were a little slow at the launch so I went over and started pointing the finger and yelling lane numbers to get things moving, funny how people think just because I,m standing there that I really work there. I,m sure we'll all get togeather again, maybe this weekend. Next time I won't be so rude.

Thanks for all the replies. A few more questions for you all:
What were you using? I saw everything from mooching, trolling herring, down riggers with flashers, hoochies, herring, coyote spoons, plugs, and everything in between.
Next question - how far apart do you tie your hooks on your leaders?
Ok, one last question for those cut plug folks. Do you leave the trailing hook out or in the herring? Why?
Ok, really my last question. For those that caught your nooks down deep (100+'), how do you know that you didn't catch a resident blackmouth? I saw a few deep fish that looked suspicisously like a Bmouth to me. These nooks had the really dark black back and look of a Bmouth.
Just curious.

Parker, Answer to your last question,,,, they are nickle bright, shaped like footballs and I have caught, let`s just say enough,of resident, wild, and hatchery to know the difference. I`ve been fishing that bay most of my fishing life...I know it pretty well, and my brother is finally starting to..
