Is this always a problem??? You fish with different people all the time.. You will take almost anybody that wants to go.. Hunting is another deal.. you go with the same 6 guys you have gone with all your life. If your son gets old enough, he can come, or if your dad wants to go, we'll take him.. outside of that nobody else.. without exception.
Every year, this issue gets put to test. People have a real hard time understanding that no matter how good a fishing bud they might be.. they just can't come hunting. No key to the gate. They are on their own.
This pisses them off and they get bummed out. Still, you have no issue taking them out or going with them fishing, or anything else for that matter. Is this an issue with anyone else??? or is it just at this house.

You need counseling. And the fact that I took the time to respond to your irrelevant post proves that I need counseling too. See you at the Shrink.

I have to agree with B-Run on this one. I have hunting buddies, and I have fishing buddies. Big difference between the two. It's that whole "weapon" thing. The Kid's been itching to go hunting with me. After he dogged me on Saturday, his chances just might have slid a bit. Hey Joe, you ready to go get a pig and a deer? I've hunted with one guy for about 15 years. He knows what I will do, and I know what he will do in any given situation. We share the birds, and deer, and don't take each other's shots. Most of all, we share the work. This is done without any disagreement, a minimum of talking (some hand signals), and we work at the same pace. I also trust him with my life.
When firearms are involved, things get a bit more intense, and they should. Not to say their aren't dangers when boating, but there are lifejackets to protect you from drowning. Not everyone wears a bullet proof vest.
I will take new folks out from time to time. If they can keep up, handle their firearms safely, communicate well, and are polite, they may get to hunt again. If not, they don't set foot in the woods with me a second time. But I would probably fish with them.

Oh, now I understand why I thought the post was irrelevant. You have to have at least one friend to relate. That leaves me out. Carry on.

Here is my opinion on the subject. I have some friends who I wouldn't worry about going hunting or fishing with. Your decision on who you hunt/fish with should only be based upon an individual. I know the reason I don't go hunting with fishing friends is becasue I don't trust them to make wise decisions around weapons and don't feel safe.
I have a cousin who I will never ever go hunting with. After he had taking the hunting course and knew what to and not to do he still pointed a gun at me. I asked what in the h*ll are you doing?!?! His response was "It's not loaded". What a freaking dumb@ss, he is now scrathed off my hunting list FOREVER! Everone makes mistakes but this was intentional. I don't have anything else to say, because that topic really got me fuming.

B-run you are right. We have on two occasions invited outsiders into Bow camp over the last decade and it just doesn't work out. They expect us to guide, they get lost, they tromp through our hunting areas, they are not prepared and don't get "the rules". Now I wonder how our little group even got together. But I can bet my life on those guys.
