I heard the mouth of the Toutle can be quite good for silvers this time of year. I've looked on several maps and also checked out mapquest via the internet and have not been able to locate a boat ramp in this area. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to launch a boat for this area. Thanks.

Two places to launch, one is the gravel bar called the Camelot launch. To get there go into Castle Rock go west across the Cowlitz bridge and turn left at the Texaco station, follow that road for about 2 miles and turn left at the Camelot trailer park (hence the name), follow the dirt road and it will take you to the gravel bar. The mouth of the Toutle is upstream from there. The other is a WDFW launch at Olequa. From Vancouver take exit 52, turn left and go west over the freeway, turn left onto Taylor Crane Rd, then take the first left once you are ono Taylor Crane Rd. it will run straight into the launch. The Toutle is downstream from there. I perfer the gravel bar when the river is at the flow levels that they are at now as the section below the Olequa launch at Hog Island can be pretty skinny.
As for what to fish, most folks will troll the area just above the Toutle mouth with orange, firetiger orange or blue pirate wiggle warts. This bite usually is good for the first few hours of the morning, after that I will boondog down below. Hope this helps ya out!!!
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff laugh laugh

Jeffhead,

Thanks for the info. Can you tell me how far the ramps are from where you fish. I have a driftboat with an electric but if it's to far I'll probably bag it. Thanks.

Tony,

I should have known you would be on the board. Since you have'nt the skills yet to fish for Salmon, you will have to wait until next year unless you can convince me otherwise since you can't tie a basic clinch knot or egg loop.

Theo,

I,m talking to your wife right now and she is wondering why you aren't working. She says to quit playing and start earning some money!! She also says that there is no way you can go to the toutle without me, I get to use her half of the boat. smile smile
