Yesterday my visit to the lower Duwamish river proved to be one of the net-dodging nature. Yikes! Can you say "got net". Well the mukelshoot Tribe can say they have atleast 50 registered Nets just below the 1st ave bridge. OUCH!

That doesn't account for nets further up the river. Which from my vantage point I could see many, many more. Is this really necessary? I can't tell you how many nets we saw about to bust loose because they were weighted down by fish caught in them! I did notice they left a channel in the middle so tug boats could operate. But not by much. As a matter of fact, one tug pushing a barge unintentionally dragged about 5 nets downstream from thier original placements.

I did see one fellow out cleaning his nets of fish. Good man! I'm sure he'll put them to good use, as for the rest of them, I hope they clean out their nets as well. SOON!

I was stuck in traffic when the 1st Ave Bridge opened to let a boat go through last night and I saw several gill nets just under the bridge frown
