For many of you guys here that aren't into reading other fishing websites, Stew posted he had to take a break from the "heat in the kitchen" abbetted by the cook at his other fishing site. I hope this will be a gain for this impartially and fairly moderated BB. Go Stew. smile

On a different subject, I'm told that lots of fishermen lie. Could this be true? In that vain, I'd like to hear some whoppers you've heard from other fishers. I'll get the "Three Most Common Lies" out of the way first; then have at it - if you want.

3rd most common lie - "The check is in the mail."

2nd most common lie - "I won't come." (hey, could be about a lot of things, ya know)

Most common lie - "I have no clues. I guess I am learning some things that go on behind the scenes. How does everyone expect me to know what is going on?" eek

Wow! Hard on the ol' eyebrows, eh? wink

Oh, one well known fisherman's lie: Kid Sauk, "I'm not a virgin. Really!" Ya, sure. laugh ... wink

my favorite lie:
a guy in a boat is passing by and asks "so hows the fishing been, caught anything" and my favorite response "NO, it's been terriable, haven't seen a thing caught all day, and we haven't touched a fish!" then we take another look at the fish box and admire our chrome slabs that we caught 10 min. before they showed up! smile smile

A variation on that one worked for me on the Hump a few years back. Believe it or not, my buddy and I were the only ones af the bluff hole. It was FULL of kings. So here comes a group of about 8 other guys. One asks "How's the fishing?" I reply, "Just a couple of skanky old dogs, it's REALLY slow. I hear they're killin 'em at the hatchery." So all 8 turned around and hiked out, and my buddy and I had the hole to ourselves the rest of the day. smile

RT I hope that Stew will join in more discussion over here. His point of view should be welcomed and the fact that you can pretty much speak your mind over here should also be a draw.

One of our standard lies when bobber fishing is when the doughballs ask how deep we are fishing it is always about 10' shallower than we actually are. Or havent seen a thing all day. Actually got caught in that one couple days ago, told a guy we hadnt seen a fish caught and he walked up river and the guy up there told him we had already landed three. smile Oh well they can decide how much is truth and how much is fiction. Tight lines.

[-------------------] I hear some guys say this is six inches smile

I got caught a few years back.. Just pulled the driftboat out of Trask tidewater at 5th street. A guy walked up to me and asked how we had done that afternoon, as he had taken out right after low slackabout 11:00, the bite was generally slow. I recognized him as someone I had fished next to and seen over the last few days and remembered that he did not catch many fish. My response to him was that we had not had a bite. No sooner had the words left my mouth when my buddie who was standing in the boat as it sat on the trailer only partially pulled up the ramp(so we could drain it) proceeded to pull the drain plug and about 15 gal of Blood Red water starts gushing out. This guy looks at me, looks back at the red stream, walks over to the boat and looks down at 4 chrome chinook, all over 30 lbs and all with long tail lice and turns to me and says, so.. not a bite heh, my response was ok 4 bites......

To every snagger who asked how the fishin was "not too bad..already released 4 and the last one just a minute ago was a chrome pig." Not funny to most but I really enjoyed the looks I got from these guys.
