Have you been able to head south and check out some of the fishing in the Tropics, Mexico, Christmas Island, Costa Rica etc? What are your favorite fish to pursue down there?
Got a chance to fish the East Cape of Mexico at Los Barriles. Palmas De Cortez was the resort. Spent 3 days fishing there in Aug '98. We released 3 Marlin, 1 Sailfish. We bagged four 60# yellowfin tuna. Just the Wife and I on that trip. It was a total gas. The guided day trips on a 30' cruiser were about $250/day for the whole boat and crew of two. Bait and tip were extra. We are planning to return and try for Dorado and Roosterfish in addition to Tuna and Marlin. We may look into other areas also. Anyone doing thier own trips in the Sea of Cortez?

Did someone say Marlin?
I head to Panama every year on Feb.15th for a couple weeks to deckhand for a good friend of mine on a 55' Hatteras. Good rum, good scenery, LOTS of fish. When its right, multiple hookups are common on 250+ class marlin. You have to keep your baits away from pesky Sailfish and Dorado. Not to mention the inshore fishing...roosterfish (my favorite), pargo and jacks.
This is a 450-500 class fish that ate a 15lb. yellowfin for bait. Thats me on the left getting my butt kicked.
If anyone wants details or a link to their website, email me.
