Was wondering what most of you use for a bait diver.Hot-N-Tot, Tad polly? I was thinking of trying a Mag wart anyone have any info on this?Talked to a friend of mine and he says they don't have the side to side action needed.I have a few mags that need to hit the trash can or be used for a diver....Another question I had was dont mags dig pretty deep compaired to a tad polly or Hot shot?...TM

i stick with the hotn tots regular size for water 5 to 10 feet or, so magnums for the deeper water.i would keep all the wiggle warts you got, they don't make the old style anymore.i also wouldn't use a bait diver with a rattle in it.fish on!scott

TM,

The Mag Warts will work OK for a bait diver, but I like the Hot N Tots best. And as Scotty says, the reg size for most steelhead water, and for over 10 ft. deep the Mag HnT's are good. I don't mind having rattles in bait divers when the water is murky as that can help attract curious fish over toward your bait. When it's murky I use a shorter 40" leader - 50 to 60" leader and non-rattling divers in flat black or dark green metalic when the water is clearish.

Another good substitute for the Mag HnT is the Mudbug. They can dive quite deep and have rattles. And while the Jet Planers are more commonly used for chinook fishing, the smaller 10 ft. version or the 20 ft. version with the clip set in the middle depth hole do work well for steelies too.

Hey, Timber, wassup? If you don't have any Hot-n-tots handy try the Norman Lures plugs. There are two sizes that I know of, the smaller being very similar in size and diving capability to the 3 3/4" Tot's. They dive deep, however, they get really squirrely in faster water and that is what you want with a bait diver.....a deep diver with good movement. Good luck and FISH ON!
