I have seen pictures of these but never fished with them. I do not know when the company that made them went out of business but I suspect it was before I got into fishing the rivers. Always hear everyone say how good the Okies were. Is there a company that makes an imitation Okie type drift bobber?

I have a few of them. When my father-in-law quit fishing. He don't get around very good any more. I got all his gear. I think that Lur Jensen used to make them. The best color was pink. If you ever hit garage sales with fishing gear you can usually find them there. About all you can find now are gooey bobs which look just about like them. They were here before corkies and I wish that they were still here. Jim S. cool

Sportco has them! I saw them last night! Should I buy all of them?

any you see in a store these days are most likely some of the new style stryofoam okies. These have been made for some time now and the molds for making these are what broke recently.

The old style plastic ones are what people get "panty puddin" over, and more specifically the nail polish pink color that one legendary steelheader calls his alltime favorite. You can tell the difference pretty easy, just push your fingernail into it, it if makes a dent you don't have plastic.

Does anyone know of a web site that sells the new type of styrofoam Okies. Did a search on the web and came up blank.

Hi Oakie lovers: Just why in the hell do you think they were called oakies;it not because they were developed in Oklahoma. The originals were simply dried acorns thus Oakies. Drill a hole paint them up and you have the original Oakie just as good as the day it was invented.
Mind you if you come from the north west you may have a little trouble finding red oak but there are lots of white oak that have been planted.

A few years ago Pay Less cleared all there fishing gear out of one of there local stores. My wife just happen to work for them so I got some good deals on gear. One of the deals was 5 dollars for All there drift floats which was an ungodly amount. In the assortment were a whole bunch of the old plastic oakies.I think of that legendary fisherman every time I lose one. laugh
