I have not fished the Satsop yet. I was wondering where some good places to fish from the bank for Silvers would be?

Wow, I must have some kind of communicable disease here for no one to respond to my post for so long.....that or no one wants to help out a fellow fisherman.

What is up? confused

Well.....see its this way.....BC(before computers), people went for a drive, checked things out for themselves. Now for some reason, this has changed.....that's too bad!!!!

1. Check river flow before your leave home, many rivers have that information now.

2. Drive to the river, start writing notes, and mileage readings. How the water looks, look at the banks to see if its been dropping, althought river flows from #1 would show you that.

3. If you see cars and trucks parked along side the road...might be a good place to "go for a walk and just look"....might even be room for you to fish.

4. If you do the above 1,2 and 3, often enough, then you won't have to depend on others to "scout for you"........you'll know!!!!!

Not what you wanted to hear but it sure works!!!

Well said Drifter! A couple of other tips. If you see a few rigs, (AKA) pickup trucks, parked near the river it might be worth a look. If see you an area that looks like the S curves. The one in Renton at 5:00P.M. Not the one on the Satsop. You are in a secret hole and you should definitely stop and fish. By the way, it is actually pretty relaxing to just drive along the Satsop road and not have to worry about road rage.

Thomas,

Where to fish on the Satsop is almost easier to figure out than when to fish it. The silver fishing area is pretty short, from the mouth to Shafer St. Park on the East Fork. The best time to fish the mouth is about 2 or 3 hours after high tide. Silvers will move from the mouth to the park in as little as 17 hours (according to a guy who keeps statistics on this stuff) on a dropping river after a freshet, taking longer under less favorable conditions. Also, the river seems to be out of fishable shape at flows much over 4kcfs. It was still out on the mainstem yesterday; the east fork clears fastest.

Where to fish is easy. Just drive around on the weekend and look for parked cars. Follow the boot prints.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

Thanks for the advice Salmo, I will check it out. As to Drifter and Local, thanks as well. Expected some feedback along the lines of what you gave from some on this board but it is nice to know there are a few more decent guys out there than you. No hard feelings and have a merry Christmas.

Nope, just have login at work and login at home but when I logged in at home forgot my password and all that stuff.....was just easier to set up new account. Also was interesting to see what kind of feedback I received as a smolt......clearly different from what I get as a returning adult.

Didn't get out to the Satsop this weekend... a friendly source told me that it was still out of shape in a certain area. Went to the Skykomish which worked well as was close to home. Got blown off the water though.
