Mine just died and I have some generic black and color cartridges that I don't need anymore. They work just as well as the Epson brand but are cheaper.

I have two color cartridges and five black. Do you need them? Let me know.

Dave, I also had a Epson and was using the generic ink cartrages(sp) I was having alot of problems when it printed a picture there were a bunch of horizontal lines throughout the picture.
I talked to the dealer where I purchased it and he said it was due to the generic ink.
I dunno!!!But, I canned mine and bought another one but no longer will use the generic ink...
Anybody else have the problem?fp
PS.Also have a couple of ink cartrages to give away.

I have the Epson Stylus Photo 750. The only problem I've seen with it is that it the ink jet heads tend to gum up if you leave the printer on for long periods of time without activity. So, just remember to turn off the printer when you are done with it, and the Epson's should be fine.

I've only used Epson ink, and am too chicken to try the 3rd party stuff.

Likewise for laser printers - stay away from recycled toner carts. Bad news all the way around.

Hey Dave, I have a Epson 440 and a 640. Would you like a printer for those cartriages? I'll sell them cheap!

I have used about a gallon of generic black ink over the years in my Epson 600. Just make sure there are no air bubbles.

fp - Of course they are going to say it is do to the generic ink. The ink is where they make there money. The banding (horizontal lines) come from the heads being clogged. The "good" ink will clog just as easily as the generic if you don't clean the heads every once in a while.

Riverswild is right. Genuine Epson ink will clog just as well (or badly) as the generics. The problem that I have discovered with Epson is that they are one of the only printer manufacturers that I'm aware of that when you replace the ink cartridge you aren't replacing the ink jets with it. That causes a problem over time, as I've discovered.

My grandparents just inherited a Stylus 740 though a relative's upgrade, so I'll just give these carts to them. Thanks all.

The problem with generic inks is that they use a slightly different formula than the standard inks which generally tends to be thicker than standard ink.

Yeah, Epson printers have built in print heads rather than removable. I've had nothing but problems with my Epson Stylus Photo 875DC and plan on replacing it with the Canon S800 in the very near future.

I have the Epson Stylus 880 and it works great. I always get my new ink cartridges from EBAY, same name brand, just a whole lot cheaper.
