Nissan has a straight 4. I had a Chev Luv 4x4 with a straight 4 and it pulled my 17ft sled! Your drift boat I bet weighs 1/4 of what my sled does, it'll do just fine. smile

I use to have a 95' nissan 4x4 xcab that I pulled my 16 foot willie around with for 3 years. It did just fine but i did have to use 3rd or 4th gear on some hills. And driving into a good headwind will keep you at the posted speed limit. On the flats it did just great. Even better if I had a full load in the bed, tonneu would be equivalent. The wind drag kills ya more than the weight. I pulled my drift boat about 4000 miles a year with that truck. with all my trips to the coast and to Idaho. The only other downer i can think of is gas milage dropped to about 10-12mpg towing normally i got 18mpg. V6 would pull it better up the hills. but I can count the number of bad spots in this state on two hands where i had to downshift.

I had a 89 Nissan p/u with the 4cyl. I towed my 16' smokercraft all over the state for a year before I bought a new truck. My boat and motor combo loaded with all my stuff weighed just over 1000lbs at a truck scale, the only time I had trouble was over Stevens Pass, 3rd gear at about 45mph.I think you'll be fine with that truck.

I use my 2001 Grandprix 6cyl to pull my 15' sled, works great pleanty of power to pull up the ramp and the front wheel drive helps too.

I had a 16 ft fiberglass driftboat that I pulled with a 4x4 Toyota with a 4 cyl. motor, the truck had oversized tires on it when I bought it and it had a hell of a time pushing them tires, the couple times I pulled the boat I was sure I was going to blow that 22R motor. My dad convinced me to dump the tires and go back to stock, the difference was pretty significant, not to mention the improved gas mileage. I had no problem doing 60-65 on the flats and 50-55 on inclines. smile

I drove a 93 with a 4 cyl.Unfortunately it was not a nap-z.Mine had a five speed which was useless if you ask me.I pulled a couple of boats with it and was always unhappy with the gearing!I would look into lowering the gear ratios other than that it will work fine!
