If you do a web search for fly rod brokers, or look in the back pages of either a Fly Fisherman or Fly Rod and Reel magazine, you can find addresses of brokers or resellers of used bamboo rods. They can tell you what it's worth. Some of them have web sites that may have similar rods on them, so you can see prices.

Values will run from nothing to several thousand dollars for old bamboo fly rods. The high dollar ones have to be in great condition, from certain well known manufacturers like Leonard or Payne. I wouldn't go shopping for new cars just yet.

Please provide more information: length of rod, color of wraps, stampings (if any) on reel seat, etc. Is there a bag and/or tube? A serial number? Are all the sections of equal length? I am guessing that "chancellor" is a model name, not a builder. Look for a company name, like South Bend, Winchester, Montague, Horricks-Ibbotson, etc., then update your post.

Can't tell you value here, but a couple helpful hints maybe. First, count the sides to the rod. If you have a 5 sided rod, it was made prior to the industrial machine made rods and is hand made. Be very sure to keep it in a cloth protection and inside a hard case of some kind with holes in it for air. If you get it wet, and air does not get to it, the glue used will fail and the rod will fall apart. My best advice is to take it to a good fly shop and ask for assistance in getting it ID'd and valued. Good luck, Beaner wink
