Well, I had a lot of freshwater fishing gear stolen from my car last night. I'd ask anyone here to please be on the lookout for this stuff. I know it probably won't lead to anything, but you never know. If you find it, please call the cops.

Fishing gear:

One B&M Buck's Ultimate 'Super Stiff' 8.5 foot spinning rod paired with an Abu Garcia center drag reel. The rod is NOT a stiff heavy rod. It's a long medium light rod for crappies.

One Ugly Stik 6.5 foot spinning rod paired with a Penn Power Graph 1500 reel.

One Daiwa Triforce X 6.5 foot spinning rod paired with an Okuma Avenger AV-40 reel.

One Plano 3 tray tacklebox chock a block stuffed with fishing stuff. Full of plugs. The more unusual items include a pair of stainless steel pliers with a slightly rusty nut and very rusty spring. They have a red handle that says 'Benchtop' on them. Benchtop has not made these kinds of pliers in more than 8 years. Two jars of Berkley Crappie Nibbles, one white, one green. Many unusual kinds of quill type bobbers. Five smaller mini tackle boxes inside, two for hooks, swivels, corkies and beads, and three for mostly 1/32 oz jigs. I'd estimate the tackle box to equal around about half of the value of the stuff that was stolen. It was just full of that much stuff.

One floating fish basket. Powder black coating, with a heavy 7 foot yellow fish stringer with brass ring and post attached to the handle to tie it to the dock.

Non fishing gear:

One North X Northwest folding camp chair. This one is unusual because it has metal rings around the spots where the metal legs come up through the canvas material. The chair is dark blue with black highlights. The case is made of lighter material and has a shoulder strap. It has a few holes near the bottom where the plastic feet of the chair have worn through.

One pair of radio headphones made by Sony. Black with silver reflectors on each side.

This stuff was stolen from the Federal Way area, near Redondo beach. There is a reward of $50 for the return of this stuff. If you find it, please email me privately at arklier@hotmail.com

Perhaps one of those South African car alarms you made mention of last month was in order.

Man your aware of the thievery...why leave that much gear in your car? confused

Breakins and Drownings...why are we so puzzled when they occur? It's not like we aren't aware of the possibilities or dangers! rolleyes

I'd gone fishing the night previous, and forgotten to take it out. I've also left gear in my trunk for long periods of time and never had it touched before. It was in the trunk, out of sight. Just bad luck, I guess frown

No, my parents live just up the street from there on 8th Avenue, about three blocks down the hill from where it crosses Dash Point Road. The car was parked across the street from their house. I'm sure it was someone in the area, walking down the street that spotted it. The doors on the driver's side (away from the road) were unlocked. And they couldn't have gotten that far, since the tackle box weighed at least 15 pounds. The radio (which is a CD player) was not touched.

What a bunch of crap, most fisherman and fisherwomen, have the mutual respect, It is just a few bad apples that make us have to go to extremes!!

Can't even leave doors unlocked or windows anymore!!

I hope your stuff shows up, that is a real bummer!!

That sucks! I have been real fortunate not to have been robbed where I live. I do put locks on everything due to the drug use that does go on. It is sad that we live in a society where there are people who take what is not their own. mad We had a class where I work a couple weeks ago on Meth. It showed some things to look for and the affects that it has on people. It is amazing the kind of solvents and chemicals some people put in their body.

It's not just the gear that was lost. I feel like my enjoyment for my favorite sport was stolen as well. The nice weather makes it worse. I think about fishing, and then I remember I have nothing to fish WITH, and it feels like someone has stuck a spear in my chest. I literally have no freshwater gear at all now. That was ALL of it. How can people just take things that don't belong to them? Do they have no empathy for the people they've ripped off? The thing I'm kicking myself most about is that my parents told me more than once to move the car back into the driveway, but I figured it would be fine across the street for just one night. I'm not sure if it would have made any difference if the car was on the road or in the driveway, but now I'll always be tortured by that knowledge. That was a lifetime's worth of tackle, my best guess is somewhere between $550 - $600. Some of the plugs were given to me by my grandfather before he died. They have no monetary value, since they're just modern lures made of plastic, but they were important to me. I'm out of work, so it will be a long time until I can replace that gear, and at this point I'm wondering if I should even bother, or give up fishing altogether.

Please dont give up fishing as it sopunds like you love it so much.

I once had a few tools and odd and ends stolen that my dad had given me before he died and after 10 years it still hurts knowing I dont have them.

But never give into those jerks for stealing your stuff I am sure we all can find away to help you out with at least borrowing some gear or such that people have extra.

Thievry has no place in this day and age.

If anyone wants to try and help Arklier out posts some replys and we can work it out.

Thanks for the support, but I don't want to ask for handouts. No freshwater fishing for me until I can replace the stuff. On the other hand, all my saltwater gear was in the garage. I hear some kings whispering 'Come catch me...' smile
