How fast is to fast for Jig and Bobber water?

In the summer when the water gets low I focus on deeper slots that sometimes are almost whitewater on top. Not really sure what is going on underneath but if the boulders are big enough the fish will hold. The fast water produces the oxygen they need.

I can catch fish with a simple corky, yarn and shrimp oil in these slots. Have tried a jig and bobber in the faster water but not for very long because I do not have the confidence that the jig is working properly in faster water.

Any of you jig experts out there catch fish in deep white water or almost white water using a jig and bobber?

You would be amazed at how fast the water can be and catch fish on a jig!

I usually up size the float and throw on some more lead on the leader to get it down faster.

The faster riffle water leading into a drift is where I find a majority of the aggressive summer steelhead. The water can be less then two feet deep and as long as there is cover fish will hold there. A heavier jig usually is enough to get down quickly and allow the fish to see it. Another option is to add split shot a foot or so above the jig. In heavier fast water I look to toss the jig at the seam of the current so it has a better chance of being seen by the fish. Adding a pink worm to the jig will increase the total weight and help too.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Swim your jig?

You lost me, is that the technique of letting it bounce off rocks on its way down river like a spoon would, or is it like fishing a buzz bomb from a pier. Pull back let fall a few feet, pull back let fall a few feet while reeling down the entire time.
