TheRogue, You must be referring to the "Little White Salmon". The White Salmon is a.ka. as Underwood. It doesn't have a beach.
I was at Little White Salmon a.k.a. Drano Wednesday and half day thursday. Hooked 10 landed 8 and released 4 natives. The Duck

Duck...the "bench" is at the mouth of the (Big) White Salmon almost under the railroad bridge. It is the main spot to fish the "no boat area" from the highway bridge to the bouys that are about 150 yds. into the Columbia.

Huntar has it right...I've always considered the Big White a better place for banky fishing, even though there's a lot more access at Drano. "The Bench" has existed for decades, although it has been rebuilt many times. It's just an absolutely ideal spot, there's times you'll see fish on quite regularly all day....yet the boats outside the bouys won't touch a thing.

Huntar and The Rogue, you are right. I didn't have my glasses on and thought I read beach when it was bench. I do know this area since I've been fishing there for 36years. Jim

Fished Sat night, 10pm to Sun morn, 9am. Mighty windy, mighty slow. Some fish right around dark, then slow....my partner got one hatchery brat, I had one snag itself on the belly on a plunked spin-n-glow in 20+ feet of water.

Lots of fish moving after 3am, definitely some salmon there. Fishing should be MUCH better than it is, with all the numbers over the dam!!! Not enough temp difference between the Columbia and the tribs, I guess.

Hey I want to ask you guys something. Are you required to have your lights on all night when you are sitting out there on the anchor? I don't have lights on my Gregor, but I was interested in trying it out for a night.

Thanks for any info.

Hey all. Never fished Drano in the fall or at night for that matter. Anybody willing to give up any info on how to fish it from a boat. If not understandable. I will just go to Grays Harbor.
adios

B.H.

Yup, you're supposed to have an anchor light on while anchored, and full lights while underway. Don't worry too much though, as you'd be about the only one of all the boats that did have their lights on!!!
