I've been a lifelong fan of stren, clear blue or superstrenth. I'm experimenting with Izor which I love but am having a hard time finding the Hivis. Yo-zuri hybrid also graces my baitcaster and I like it as well. TUF XP for my sturgeon and columbia king rods, LOVE this stuff. beer

I use maxima chameleon 10 lb.. Steelhead NEVER!!! care about the long black string hanging off what they hit.

the best casting line i have ever used was Stren magna thin but it is not abrasion resistant so I don't use it.. but it is a dream to cast..

on my spinning rods I have trilene Xl 12 lb

Thanks for all the info. I found out Suffix is made by the folks that make Izorline (kinda like gmc and chevy).
I'm staying with the Suffix but was curious about some of the others. your replies helped. I think I will try the Power-pro sometime though.

River Raider,

Did you happen to see the line test that was done in the October 2001 issue of Sport Fishing? In this very informative test suffix lines did very well beating out (in abrasion and tensile stength) most all of the other popular mono's including Maxima, Ande, Izor and Stren. Stren original beat all others in the abrasion rating but fell far short of Suffix (tritanium) in the tensile test.

In general, the test showed that monos held up far better than braided lines in abrasion tests while fluorocarbons demonstrated virtually no abrasion resistance whatsoever. You are making a very good choice going with the suffix for a mono. For braids, the original Tuf-line tested the best but Power Pro is very hard to beat IMHO. Best Regards,

RM

Casting: Maxima UG
Plug Rods: Izor Hi-Vis
Boondoggin Rods: Izor Hi-Vis
Float Rods: 20# PowerPro w/Izor Platinum leaders.
Spinning drift rods: Izor Platinum.

Izor is hard to beat on spinning reels but I prefer Maxima UG when I drift fish for big natives.
