No, it is not a war,but if it makes you feel better
to call it that because of the men we have dying
over there,thats ok by me.
But it still is not a war.
I think that if it comes to war,an I hope like hell it does not.
But if an when it does come to a war,you me and the lot of us,will be standing right here, on our
own soil, defending what is yours mine an ours.
This is my own opinion, and I am not telling you or asking you to beleave or think as I do.

So what you are saying is that it is OK for you to rationalize your view but others cannot?

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Read it again. Read it slowly if you need to.

Doesn't sound like he's against anybody rationalizing their beliefs wrt the war to me.

I don't think reading it slower will help. We will have to ask Hoh Humm to type it slower for TheliarKing's sake!

Symantics. HJ Res 114 authorized the president to use military force and did not declare war. The president did. It is commonly reffered to as the Iraq war.

Ever notice the correlation between undeclared wars and public support? Perhaps if this conflict were actually declared a war, more of the US public would be behind it, not to mention more international support as well. Of course, declaring a "real" war is problematic for the Neocons because our Congress would probably balk at taking the full step. Why? Because the justification is questionable. Same reason we could never get the UN behind us. If the cause/threat were legitimate, I think we'd see public support in the 80% or better range.

Hit the nail on the head. These "wars" are completely elective. It's good for business.

G.W. wants to be called, and I quote Dumbya here. "The War President." Those are his own words, at least they came out of his mouth. Dick Chenny may have had his hand up Dumbya backside but they came out of his mouth. Karl Rove might have wispered them into Dick's ear but the words came out of his mouth."The War President". Makes him sound important doesn't it? Just like tk, he thinks that Theking makes him sound important. Well in the trailer park where he lives with his mom he just may be the theking. At least in his own mind. wink

Oh the irony. How many of you served in the unwar in Chosen. The period euphemism was; "Police Action." oops... "United Nation's Police Action" Harry, the buck stops here, Truman was Cinc in those days. I don't believe he was a Republican, although he would be considered a conservative by many of the current Democratic/Socialists.

exactly sardonicus....if truman or the conservatives didnt call vietnam a "war" then how the hell do you call the occupation of iraq a war??? iraq had less ties to al qaeda than the USA did or England or canada.....

unless the war on terrorism began in oklahoma.....its being fought by hypocrites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

true enough aunty...didnt mean to imply that the troops are the hypocrites if that is what you mean......im reffering to the Bush admin and to those who feel that they are fighting a war on terrorism by invading iraq
