I use the paint 'cause I only paint one side. Green is brighter than blue, I've tried them both. Use a white primer first - not much paint is compatible with this stuff but flat Krylon is close. Takes a bunch of coats to get the real bright glow that you want. Seems like pretty durable stuff, but I repaint my spoons after I have caught enough fish on them that teeth start to take the paint off - every other trip on those 30 shaker days! Both Spawnout and I use green Glow Mate paint. I like to charge my gear under my fly tying lamp for about 3 hours... No kidding, the stuff glows for 12 hours...

One of the best benefits to using this stuff is you can keep in the zone longer than 15 minutes without having to bring it up and recharging it. I check my gear roughly every 45-60 minutes. If you worry about junk on the line, this can be avoided by placing a clear golf tee on your mainline in front of your flasher.
