Fished hard from 8:am-5 pm floating from The lower hatchery to Modrow bridge along with 20 or so other boats. I caught one hatchery steelhead jack about 15 inches. No other hits NOTHING... Fishing was extremely poor though the conditions were perfect. We heard of two other fish hooked SO thats 3 fish hooked for about 60 rods.. Thats crappy fishing in anyones book..

I don't know about hte kalama but I went to the elocho and it sucked. I fished hared and did everything correctly but no fish. I saw one flashing but could not get it to take what I was offering. I plan to go to the Kalama in the morning. I hope it is better. What do you think is the reason. The fish are around but just not biting.

When conditions are good steelhead just don't go through spells where they don't bite.. If they were there people would have been getting into them.. fishing sucks because the fish aren't there.... I am guessing the Kalama will be blown in the AM but i am far from an expert on that river..

Interesting insight RA? rolleyes

See Umpqua Winter Steelhead tracking article in latest issue STS. Funny how a bad ass fish named Ripdatlip hunkered down in a gauntlet hole for 32 days without being hooked once. But then again conditions could have played a big part. confused

FJ...out.

FJ my point was only that when conditions are good and there are a reasonable number of fish around people will be getting into them.. That wasn't happening yesterday on the Kalama in spite of excellent conditions so there aren't that many fish there...

Didnb't go to the kalama either, too much rain last night and it was a hard rain. The cow looks really high and dirty too. I live across the street from it. I did drive by the kalama and it was high and muddy. I have found that there are a few spots that hold fish consistantly in this high water but I guess I was just lazy, I went to fishermans marine and spent $$ instead. My wife has been trying to talk me into buying a pantoon, I think that she likes this idea better than a drift boat.

My plan is to go out tomarrow afternoon it should be better by then. I will let you all know.
