Hi there!
You must respond to this e-mail to complete your registration.
Currently, we are screening new users at ifish.net to limit abuse issues. To complete your registration, please provide us with the following information to allow us to verify your identity:
- your real name
- City and State
- a brief statement of what you will be using Ifish discussion board for and how you learned about ifish.net
Your user information may be revealed to the administrator, but will not be made public without your consent.
You must reply within 48 hours or your registration request will lapse.
When your registration is complete, it would be nice if you introduce yourself by making a post. The tradition at Ifish.net is that people tell a "fish tale" to provide an idea of who you are and what you like to fish for. Note that a "fish tale" is a story about fishing, but if your story would be more appropriate on the hunting or salty dogs forum, you can post it there.
Thanks!

Well I guess I have changed my mind, and do not want to be a member of your so elite forum that you fill the need to interview your applicants. So I will just stay at Piscatorial Pursuits where at least They welcome everyone to their site and If they have any problems with a member they handle it at that time. If you do change the member sign up procedures in the future please feel free to notify me, as I would consider becoming a member at that time
Thank You (hockana)@ piscatorial pursuits

Marsha is correct. There have been a few trouble makers that have been banned from not only this bb but Ifish.
Elitest NO! Troublemaker free...YES...
It's your choice.
The addresses of members do not go to advertisers and the 3 yrs or so I have been registered on this bb and Ifish, I have not received any spam from advertisers.
I am also a moderator on ifish..

Hockana their screening process to limit abuse issue exposure to the already approved fine folks had you that turned off? Try registering as "Fish Jesus" and find out the many reasons why fine cause free folk may take exception. You may be stunned to find listed the many isms that already accepted fine folk could possibly come up with. Maybe Hockana used elitist for lack of a better term? FJ...out.

For what its worth, Bob's board is a fine bb also. So if you are comfortable here, many of us are members of both bb's. So many of the same topics are found on both bb's.

I've been on Ifish for a bit now, and joined because Bob's board is pretty much from the Cowlitz north. I peruse Jen's board so I can garner some information about the Columbia and that area.
My only concern with Ifish (and it's not REALLY a concern) is that it is pretty heavily moderated for content, i.e., language and innuendos. I understand, however, that the board is read by grade school youngsters, so therein lies some responsibility. But when I am I'm pissed about something I want to express myself clearly and consisely. Sometimes that is best done with what others refer to as vulgarity. I refer to it as clear speech.
The other thing I've noticed, and I believe this may have been partly Fish Jesus' problem, is there seems to be a small contingent of members with conservative religious beliefs. Nothing wrong with that; it is their right. But they may have had a problem with FJ's use of Jesus in his moniker. Purely speculation on my part, however.
But what if FJ was Hispanic?
Oh, and I have not received any spam from any of Jen's sponsors, either.

Each board takes on the personality of its manager and his/her moderators.
Both PP and IF have a different flavor to them. For what it's worth, to me PP has more fishing related stuff and less peripheral content.
Pick what you like, or both, and go for it.
We should all count our blessings that people like Bob and Jennie are willing to do so much work to provide these wonderful forums for us all.

I've been a member of i-fish for several yrs now and have never been bothered by i-fish sponsers, its a good board with good people give it a try. There has been trouble there by a few and there just trying to keep it a family board.I joined this board a few yrs ago and quit because of all the arguements this board has changed alot since then and I come here as much as the i-fish bd now.I post more on i-fish because the rivers we talk about here are a lot closer, other then the Kalama and lewis,I don't really or have never fished the other rivers. Its still interesting to read about them.I think Bob has done a really good job on this board and you all should be very happy with it.Yes this bd. is a little more liberal then i-fish but there's nothing wrong with that either. I stopped checking ifish due to the mob mentality on that board. Regardless of views, if you are not part of that crowd, you will get jumped on. The hypocricy on that board is unbelievable...even for me! Well, not really, as I'm way more thick skinned than that! Again, instead of biatchin' about it, I just stopped checking it. Don't like it, don't go there. Easy enough. Problem solved. No need to whine about it here. I like to view ifish as a family board - yeah, as a cross between the Brady Bunch Family and the Soprano Family! PS - Yeah, what FJ said! Er... I think...er...maybe? My brain hurts now.

Jenny has a quite a sense of humor, too! There have been some big battles in the past. Jenny is doing a fine job keeping Ifish together. Great info on the Columbia. A very valuable resource.

Man Parker you are so right! I just happened to look at the last post you made on ifish and it was terrible what that group had to say to you. 32 people jumped on your post within the same day including the gang leader herself. I can see why you have such a low opinion of that board and their “family atmosphere.” Here’s the evidence if anyone wants to see the craziness for themselves: http://www.ifish.net/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=019156

It's unfortunate that you choose not to join the IFISH BB. They have great information on fishing in the Portland/Vancouver area. Jen's registration process is a bit cumbersome but she does it for a good reason. A small minority of users are simply too much of a problem and they've been booted off.
I got around the issue by indicating that I've been a long time member of this BB (with the same moniker) and if they wanted to search my past posts, they're free to do so. It would be easy to tell whether I'm a trouble maker or not. I'd like to think I'm not.....
My suggestion is to give it another try. There are times when the information provided on IFISH greatly exceeds what I can find on Bob's BB, particularly for the Portland/Vancovuer area.

I got a chuckle out of your response Bounty. The mob is speaking!

Jennie and Bob both have had to deal with a lot of distractions on their boards. I think they both have done a great job in keeping them civil and fun places to go. I appreciate Bob's hard work to protect the resource we all enjoy. Way to go Bob

I'm a member of both board, been a member to this board just about as long as I've been a member to ifish. You know, I had a whole other thing typed up that I was gonna say but I'm not here to cause trouble so I'll say this. If you have a problem with the registration form, then why you complaining to us? This is not ifish. E-mail Jen if you got a problem with some pity little thing like this.

It sucks having to explain the punch line. This time I'll type real S-L-O-W. :p First...add sarcasm to frame of mind. Then reread. While attempting to register at ifish about 8 months ago I recieved an E-mail taking exception to my moniker. Having never encountered controversy here or at Martys I found it hard to fathom. The letter went on to list the many possible negative religious connotations that could be linked to it. Quite the colorful list considering it was coming from model faith practitioners. Myself having never expressed or implyed any type of biblical connection found it hard to believe that it was said that I was the one guilty of trivializing religion? GoHarley (glad someone gets it). Why is it that a Jesus surname is acceptable among hispanic faith practitioners yet not to our societies upper crusted devout mix? Would it then be safe to assume that pure intentioned hispanic belief also trivialize religion? I would most likely be shocked with what kind burdon their list could possibly bare? Was Hackana that far off base when he used the term elitist? Done ranting and as always...just my .02. <img border="0" alt="[wall]" title="" src="graemlins/wall.gif" /> FJ...out.

Ok you guy's this was just little post showing you what Ifish.net is requiring to become a member, I just so happen to decide not to join their site as stated in my responce back to Ifish.net, I never said anything bad about them or anything about them or their sponsers spamming anyone, this was just my responce to their letter and thought you guy's might of liked to see it. And maybe I'll reconsider as I am sure they have a great site. I hope this cleares things up a little.
