Mooch - I'm gonna guess that many of the small harbors in PS have good winter BM fisheries, my favorite used to be Blakely Harbor, just south of Eagle. We always caught fish there and I figured it was better than Eagle because of it's direct connection to the sound. This year, Eagle has been hot, with tons of bait under all the docks and around the ferry service yard. The fish seem to move in and out quickly, and timing is everything, last Saturday was not, Sunday was hot! If the morning is dead, the evening on the same day can be great. I have heard reports of ferry workers in the service yard jigging fish off the docks.

Can't beat the convenience, fishable in any weather, untie, turn the boat around, and put the lines in the water. Last week during a "lunch break" trip, my partner left his rigger down all the way in and hooked a fish while I was pulling up to the dock!

Chip,

Think maybe we're on to something? wink

You might as well be describing my place. I haven't made it out past the 100' shelf yet this winter. Still working on my first 6 gal tank of gas. Spent more time C&R bottomfish than getting BM limits. Sure hope things hold up awhile longer. But then you never know with BM, do you. Keep your fins crossed.

Chip,
I think you are on to something. In highschool, I got a new rod for Christmas and went down to Narrows Marina to make a few test casts. To my surprise I caught a small salmon right inside the marina off the launch dock. The herring were school up in the marina and around Day Island. I fished from the bulkhead just outside the marina for the next two weeks and brought home limits every day.

Where are you at in the harbor? Do you live aboard? I have an old 22'Cdory at the end of Winslow Wharf B-dock, I'll be out trolling around the turn basin after 4:00 today.
