Well, I guess I could say now that my patience percervered finally! I caught my very first steelhead today(guessed by a fellow seasoned angler at 12 lbs and wild -was carefully released) and what suprised me was I actually caught it on a fly! (It is the only stellhead gear set up I own$) I'm still in shock. I feel like I just bungee jumped or something! I was about to throw in the towel on fly fishing for steelhead. Many people have told me I was wasting my time.... I was beginning to believe them...I guess I can say it works now. Hey to everyone who wrote a first steelhead story on Fishmaster2003's post -thanks, I'll remember my first forever.

- Oh, I guess you could say my name on this forum sorta reflects how I feel my patience has been all these -years.(-Though I used to throw hardware for most of 'em) Fishmaster2003 I guess we are like brothers now!

Congradulations! Steelhead Flyfishing is THE most challenging type of fishing I know of, only a hand full of people have the kind of patience you need for Flyfishing for Steelhead. First it becomes an obsession than after a few, a passion!

I'll keep working on my patience. Today I fished for five hours and nothing!
When I first hooked it, I thought...I must have caught a branch, no a rock, no it's headshaking -maybe a dolly, a whitefish, no to big for that...-0h I can see it now, must be an old salmon about to die....wait a minute it might be a steelhead! -It took me a while to believe. He was a fresh and bright metallic buck with a hue of pink at his gill cover -beautiful! He gave a good 15minute or so fight. I felt like I was battling a king salmon -he wanted to go deep. Richard a neighboring nearby season fly angler helped coach me in.. Anybody want to see a picture?
