Lavro been berry berry good to me. To me they are the Checker Cab of driftboats. I'm still using one I bought in '83. Mine's been through three motors, two trailers and too many anchors, oars and rivers to count and it's still barking at the door when I throw a vest on. I don't think you can go wrong with either but Ron puts out a quality product with performance and durability at the top of his list. His chines are everything he says they are. Many of my hard core tin-can buddies used to laugh at this little glass boat on some of the rivers we floated. They're not laughing now. Some of them are salvage and a couple are still wearing permanent smiles from the rock gardens we went through. No boat is indestructible but it's nice to have the advantages of glass and the durability of aluminum where it really counts.
Smooth driftin'.

I have a 1986 16' lavro and so far it has been a great boat slides over rocks very nice when launching and rows easy. I am the second owner of the boat and the original owner wishes he never sold it.

I've owned both. They are both good boats, but the Lavro was finished a lot nicer. The Clackacraft was an '85 or so, and the shop was young then - they may do a nicer job now.
What I mean by this is the Clack had some rough saw edges on the edge of the seats and such. Nothing that would impair the function, but it just wasn't as nicely done a boat.
I don't think there is enough difference between the handling of the two boats to worry about. They're both fine, but neither rows as nicely as a Tracy O'Brien wooden boat my friend and I made that we had before the Lavro. I suspect that was due to the sharper chines and light weight of the wood boat. It was also smaller, which is why we got the lavro.

I have a Lavro and I love it. I had a unknown Lavro knock-off before that didn't really compare. I beleive the Lavro is built to handle more punishment than the other glass boats. I also think you can move around the river better than the others.

Skydriftn I was just playing with ya; it's like the Chevy versus Ford argument, fun to razz the opposition. Little experience on pulling them plugs and rowing, yup you got that right. I was counting on you for some plug pulling lessons. We can take my boat :p
