A few months ago there was a certain individual that was selling CD's with info on Washington's rivers on them,including put in and take out areas,etc.He was selling these CD's for $5 or so and I,being the gullible person that I am,asked him nicely if I could purchase one even though I live in BC and he hapily agreed so I sent him a money order for one of these CDs.I even offered to pay more money for one(as I live in BC) and I didn't want him to feel short changed at all.That was around 3 months ago.

I sent repeated emails and finally heard back from him about a month and a half ago saying that he got my money but didn't have an address to send the CD to(even though my address was clearly written on the envelope I sent the payment in).It's been another month and a half after that and I haven't recieved anything and he hasn't replied to any emails so it's pretty obvious to me that I've been taken on this.

I was just wondering if I am alone or if this was a bigger scam with others involved?

I'm not going to make a huge deal out of it or even stoop to mentioning the persons name(although it's tempting).Maybe I shouldn't say anything but I was curious as to whether this was legit or if it was a large scam with others also being involved?I also don't want anyone else to get ripped off either.

The cost was only a few bucks so I'm not going to lose any sleep.Still,I don't understand why anyone would do this for the sake of $5? I am VERY glad that I never sent more money now.I will also be sure not to deal with this person again.

Anyone who knows this person would be wise to think twice before doing buisiness with him or commiting any funds to him in the future.

I haven't heard of this one but we have lots of scams going on at all times even during 9/11. It is a full time job The last one that I've heard is someone taking names & resume off monster.com and asking people to send $5 or $7? application fee. If they contacted you it is probably not a scam. May be the CD burner is not working

he sent me my copy, it wasn't a scam...the CDs were interesting to check out but the info is from 1975, very outdated and not of much use now, you could get better and current info (boat launches, public access sites, etc) from F&H News or the Gazeteer

I also got mine and right away. Most of the info is still good. Maybe he was overwhelmed and is trying to catch up.

Tell ya what,send me an email with your address and I will copy mine and send it to you. I believe this guy was trying to do us all a favor but it got out of hand.

He certainly wasn't making anything on these!

I didn't get mine, and when I email him i didn't even get a reply back. I'm not making a big deal over 5 bucks but i think it should have been handled differently.

I got mine within a week. Info was old but most of it was still good. Worth the 5 bucks easy. We e-mailed back and forth a few times? Never know whats going on, might have takin an unplanned trip??

Thanks to all who benefited from this non-profit venture, I have enjoyed the e-mails that you have sent. After I volunteered my services, I was completly overwelmed with the quantity of responses. At the last count, I sent out over 120 CD's worldwide. I had no idea how many people outside the US were interested in our Pacific Northwest rivers. I apologize if I have missed a couple along the way. 2/120 cd's = 98.3% accuracy rate. I have read your e-mail, and admittedly, had put it on the back burner as I have sent two copies to the address given. If you would like to give me a different address, I would be happy to send another. Once again thanks to all who were very supportive and patient.

The mail can be notoriusly slow. I have gotten Internationally shipped parcels back after 6 months and even longer!

I got mine quick enough, and it was over the Christmas holiday.

It is the Canadian mail system...Or lack of. My Grandfather lives in Calgary. I had to send him two Christmas cards. One of which he got about two weeks ago, that was sent the end of November. The other never showed! What's going on up there? Your mail system is terrible!!

I also got mine promptly. There is a lot of useable information but as with all maps it pays to check things out before hand. Rivers change, sometimes on a daily basis.
