well i don't usually post, but today we went to the kalama. fished hard with tried and true methods, water was high and good color. but we only got one hit and nothing in the boat, saw 4 other boats, no fish. was curious if anyone on any river did ok? my partner thinks that dropping barometer is a big factor in fish biting, so let the experts discourse..........

Hermie,

I know I'm going to catch it on this one, but I think where, when and how might have more to do with it than the barometer. When it's this late for steelhead (oh they're there) & it's too early for springers you won't find me in a boat on the bama. And even though I truly love that float, I'd stash the oars and lace up my hiking boots. An old pritchard puss used to tell me this time of year to go where the fish were going and stop waving at them as they swam by. But then again he also insisted that Kalama steelhead only bite when the sheep are up and grazing at the red barn too. wink
