I am thinking about buying the rod for float fishing for steelhead and salmon. It is 10.5 feet, 3/8-3/4 oz, 8 to 12 lb test, fast action, medium power.
Have you used one? Is it sensitive? Does it have backbone? Is it durable? What rods is it better or worse than? What do you use it for? Other thoughts?
We in Vancouver, BC have less selection than you. There are no Raindance (sp?) or Allstar(sp?).
Thanks.

Absolutly awesome rod. I thnik it's the best one they make. It is perfectly balanced, which is very inportant in such a long rod. It is both sensetive and tough. I have used i for salmon and steelhead. I own at leaset 40 other rods, including a custom Sage balnk steelhead rod and G. loomis, and this is by far my favorite. I have broken several rods in the past few years, but never that one. It takes a licking and keep on ticking.
Only possible criticsm is, it is not designed for heavy line. If you fish big chums, big steelehad or chinook, you might prefer the 10-20 . For anything esle you will love the rod.

i got that same rod this past summer. i had no trouble pulling silvers and kings out of the puyallup/carbon with it. its got enough backbone and the extra length makes it easier to mend line. ive got no complaints.
btw - i was at the seattle sportsmans show this afternoon and saw it at the sportco booth for $155, so the price is dropping from when i bought mine.
