Fished Point Defiance and Slag Pile on Sunday. Started at about 0700 and finally nailed one at 1150 that went 19 inches. Scrappy little bugger; we thought for sure it would be a keeper from its fighting ability.

Got it on a hootchie in 153' of water on the bottom.

GoHarley, What kind of boat were you in? I was out there yesterday too. I wish I'd fished up North instead. We had 1 hit that released from the downrigger and lost it. It was slooooow. The fish checker said there had been 2 fish brought in yesterday and that was at 2:00PM.

I was in a 19' Starcraft cuddy. We came off the water about 1 pm. Checker said there was one checked in at the boat house. Sure was a nice morning on the water, though.

We did see one other boated and kept about 9:00ish that morn.

Talked to Jim Aggregard the other night at the NOF meetings. He is a charter from Bellingham. They have been catching 11-15 pounders but up farther north. Thatcher pass and Point Lawrence area. Noth of Orcas Island. This is the San Juans if you haven't figured it out.

Well I made it out this morning and as promised here is the report. smile Started fishing about 6:30am. The wind was blowing out of the SW @10kts with 1 to 3ft wind waves which made for some tough troling(especially on the turns) frown Had my first fish on about 5 minutes later and two more brought to the boat and released by 7:30am (I was holding out for a bigger fish laugh ) about 7:40 the rod tip did a little bounce so I took up the slack and set the hook to a fish that took off on a nice long run. after a hard fight that included a couple more nice runs I slid the net under a beautiful 14lb stinker. beer . Back to the dock by 8am! Used a green hotspot flasher with a coho killer spoon in cop car pattern fished down 85ft in 70 - 90ft of water fishy

I just got back from Port Townsend, in a nut shell, fishing sucked! When we headed over Friday we knew we would be at the mercy of the winds and sure enough, it kept us off the water most of the time. I hooked into a nice fish Sat. eve. and ended up losing it to a broken leader. This was the first time I used Power Pro line and I think the lack of mono strech got me....lessons learned! Learned a few lessons on how fast the wind can kick things up there. It got bad...white knuckle bad, we certainly test the hull streght on my buddy's new trophy, It didn't do to bad for a Bayliner! Even with bad weather and no fish, it was a great weekend.

Thanks for the report chaser. I'm planning on hitting the racetrack on Sunday. Checking the tide tables it looks like about a 7-10 ft. swing. This always makes things interesting around Hat Island.

Thanks Chase. I will be out Friday myself so I'll post what is happening when I get back.

Altough if the wind picks up with the tide swing (as it usually does) it could make for some interesting fishing!

Still better than sitting here wishin' I was fishin'!!
