Plan on being down Saturday in the Kalama area. Anyone else heading there. If so stop by and say hi. I'll be out with my buddy in his 17ft older alumaweld with an outboard and kicker.

I'm going down river from you, but probably won't be all that good. The nets will be in on friday for 10 hours from the mouth to kelly point. oh well better than working.

I was going to hit Cathlamet on Saturday, but after seeing the weather report and taking the netting into consideration, we decided to fish Sunday instead.

We're going to launch at Kalama and probably fish the Oregon side around Ranier. I'm figuring some fresh springers should move in by then after the netting.

I'll be in a 17' Stryker with green top.

I'll be down there, too. Somewhere between Kalama and Rainier. North River Sled, name is on the back of the boat. Hopefully, we'll be the boat that keeps waving the net! laugh

I'll look for you while I'm out there, SH.

BTW, how much lead does it usually take in that area to hold the kwikies? I was thinking about 5 ounces. Is that about right?

Well my uncle is crazy, so I'm leaving right now to head down. I think we're going to be down by ivy rock. There will be three of us on the boat(19' stryker sportjet with a red top) Say hi if you're down below Cathlamet . I'm hoping we don't get blown into next week.

So GB, how did you do. Was the weather as bad as where I was. Dam we got caught in a couple of good ones just outside of Olympia on a ZIPPERLIP. Luckly no wind. But also got about 3 hours of blue skys. No fish thoe, but it was sure nice just being out there. I will be down there for sure next weekend around Kalama.

Fish on,

Well we touched nada. The weather did just about everything but snow yesterday. There was a lot of debri in the river. Everytime we tried trolling we would pick up some grass or a stick and knock our lines off of the downrigger. I think I'm gonna wait until the cowlitz goes down some more before I go back down.

The wife and I fished the Oregon side out of Willow Grove today.11:30a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Not a bite.Saw 1 fish lost.
3:30 -5p.m We had 5 takedowns.Sue got a 20 lb.Chromer to the boat.I lost one after a few seconds. Then another at the boat.Didnt even get to touch the pole on the other 2.
Plus 3 guys plunking with spin glos off the bank got 3 keepers.
The wind picked up and we were about the only ones there when the bite started.Turned out to be a great day despit my inneptitude at landing fish.
Were going back tomorrow.White 20' Predator w/ red stripes and Suzy-Q on the back.If anybodies down around the Longview area and sees us give us a wave.

HntnFsh, way to go. Look like staying out all day paid off for ya. Its even nice when you have most of the river to yourself and you're catching fish laugh . You'll get another chance at those lost ones.

First time with you folks - I have launched my 20' Wooldridge at a park on the Cowlitz, approx. one mile up from the mouth. I haven't seen anybody discussing that launch site. Does it exist? or did it fall prey to no park maintenance?? It's been a couple of years since my last appearance.

It's still there but why launch at a crappy one when there is two really nice launches close by. Down by Kalama or at willow grove.

Hey ErnDog- Where did you launch to get to your OlyZipperlip? And, did you mark any fish on the finder? I have toyed with fishing here, but haven't seen any fish in the creel reports yet, have a couple of hush hush spots to fish when we get some in. Looking forward to driving 15 mins to launch versus 2 hrs to Everett. beer

thanks for the confidence booster.picked up a 24# keeper Mon evening. The bite was real slow Mon.We both had 1 takedown fortunately I was able to make mine count.Only saw 3 caught all day.Ans it was a long day.11am to 6pm.Most of the fish weve been seeing cought or getting into is late in the tide.Just before its done with.Just 3 boats again mon when we hit ours.Everybody else already left.
Sure is nice to have a wife thats as much of a diehard as I am.I started to ask her if she was getting tired the other day.Her reply,as always. "You know me.I'm not going to be the first one to say its time to leave" doesnt get any better than that, does it?

Berkley boy.Burlyns not back yet.another month or so I think. His rods are about all I use.I have had extremely good luck with them.I'm going to try a jig when we get a few more fish in.I think they would work great.
Once the wife starts gettin her fill of salmon fishing I might be able to get you a seat.Or 1 day if its just her and I .We can fish 3 pretty easy so I will keep you in mind and see if we can figure something out.

HF, way to go again. #24, I'll take that any long day. Ends the day with excitement. Now if I can only get my wife down there also. She did tell me she'll do some King fishn this summer. I told her, it'll only take one to get her hooked and I know she will.

Well hopefully this Saturday I can post a few stories like yours to share. We plan on sun up and sun down. We'll be launching at Kalama and working between the Kalama and the Cowlitz.

Fish on,

Erndog
