house???
And I thought Fishgal was bad with the Beltway Sniper stuff!!
23.5 hours a day since it started, every TV in the house. I think the CNN banner is burned into our screens!
I understand that's it's important and we currently have a perspective that we've never had previously, but yikes, I wake up at 3 in the morning and she's awake, up to date on it all.
Am I alone in this situation? Or do you have family members / friends that can't seem to pull themselves away from this story too??

We American are a curious bunch I believe. I find myself watching way too much of it, mostly out of concern for our troops. Having been through Vietnam, I personally do not think the news media needs to be imbedded with our forces. They are pretty well watched that they do not say too much, but I find it of no help when the news media reports live every time our B52's leave England and will be over Bagdad in six and a half hours. I heard the new reporting will be evaluated later on as to whether it hurts or helps. I wish the best to all the troops over there. Bill

Its like I'm jonesing for my next hit during commericals. FOX NEWS, fair and balanced coverage, is my personal favorite- other than when Geraldo is on..... But last night during the Saddam "historic" (historically boring) speech I had to change to MSN as they had the best translator!
Its nerve racking much of the time, but I think its better to be informed and think/pray for the troops that are experiencing the horrors of war than not watch.
And on another TV note... Michael Moore should have been drug out back and beaten for his senseless/heartless comments...Doesn't he realize that people are dying for the war we went in for what he called "fictitous" causes? It was nice to hear the boos, however. I think he likes to hear his own voice a bit too much.

My name is Andy, and I'm a news junkie.
I have a number of friends in three different theaters, two of them in the thick of it, with the third heading up a field hospital in a nice out of the way spot treating wounded "advisers". Nobody wants war, but at times it is a tool to accomplish what we need to do. I doubt we will sit by in the future and let some other madman slaughter those people in his country who he sees as less than human, at least I hope that is the case.
Michael Moore should have been taken out back, as CWUgir suggested, but he should have gotten one of those "fictitious" beatings. He has a right to speak his mind, but there is a time and a place, and the soldiers in the field are protecting that right for him and others.
Gotta get back to the tube..........

I wish that I could watch it more! God protect our troops!! It really brings home to me what our troops are really having to deal with on a day to day basis. Those guys are out there getting fired @ and I'm logging on to a fishing site!!???? REALITY CHECK! I wish one of our missiles would accidently land on some of those protesters, oops there went the OSCARS. CWU girl it sounded like music when I heard the BOOS ring out!!! I hate for our troops to go thru what they sre having to go thru, but I support what they are doing for our freedom and safety, and I support the President for taking a stand against the evil that rules this world! Lets all pray for the quick and desicive end to this war, as well as safety for our troops and the innocent Iraqi people that have been forced to live under this terrible regime!!! Thanks All

I am pretty much plugged into the news every chance I get. It gives us all a new perspective. Anyone who hasn't participated in real combat action can now see that nothing is a slam dunk in a war. We aren't going to have this war over with a happy little ending by bedtime. I thank God every day for those who are willing to put their lives on the line and go the distance not only to keep us free, but also to free the people of another country.
GO USA!

I used to watch just CNN, until I ordered Fox News recently. What a difference in people! All I ever see on CNN is Judy Woodward saying; ...what about the babies...the babies...the babies!
It just seems to me that all I see on CNN are people opposing the US position and pictures of wounded babies laying in Iraq hospitals. I guess when Judy is done with that one she will jump right on the next one!
The next thing that Judy will be saying is; what about those babies... the babie birds...where will all those babie pigeons go now that their nests in Saddam's palaces have been blown up...the babies, those poor babie pigeons !!
And then we see the pictures of the "blackhawks" sweeping down on those poor babie birds, and killing them...oh no...who's going to save those babies!!
I'll go back and watch CNN again when this war is over, but for now, it's FOX news for me. At lease the FOX news station people are patriotic and they make no bones about saying so.
Anyway, that's just my "outspoken" opinion about the CNN news war coverage.

I think it's hard not to watch when CNN is broadcasting live feeds from embedded journalists who are covering marines engaging iraqi positions and tearing them up.
Watching those tanks shoot downrange and light up a position with those 50 cals is pretty hard to change the channel on.

I am a war junkie. With that said, however, My name is Steve E. and I am a Piscatorial Pursuits addict. I swear, I get to work at nine, but start at eleven because I must read every new post from the night before. If I miss a day or two, then it takes all day. I read posts about stuff I don't care about, or want to read but I MUST!!! So yes, war at night, PP at day. I must read them all in the morning, and then check back several times throughout the day to see if anything new was posted. I need help. Serious help. 12 steps ain't enough......

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!!! "Send more Tomahawks!!!!" PEACE!!! "Through Superior Firepower!" I'm glued to our tube! I was in Somalia and Egypt in the Marine Corps and I can tell you "IT SUCKS!" over there. We slept with goggles on and a bandana over our face at night because the sand and wind was so bad. The people are so poor, our homeless live better than them. In most of those countries the people are extremely repressed by their gov'ts. The water is pretty much undrinkable. I know what they are going through. I wish I was there with them. I'm 2 yrs too old now! Now, all I can do is pray for them, which is a good thing we all can do.

Wow folks, I'm impressed, should we do shifts and keep each other updated? Maybe alternating channel viewing and times? I can take the late shift right now.... Hey, we all are going to learn something from paying attention to reality we see and news minus some of the propaganda and unclear misinformation. I've been glued-in! Darin

Though I am not a "Ground Pounder," I can certainly understand what the troops are going through on the ground. It is a little different sitting in a gas mask on a ship for hours at a time.
I have been through the Iran/Iraq War escorting reflagged tankers, Desert Shield/Storm and Desert Fox. Each has had it's moments... Unfortunately, I am in a different area of tension instead of the .... I feel guilty not being there!
As far as waching CNN, the younger sailors are watching movies or different programming. Us old farts? It is amazing any work is getting done.
Go Navy! Downriggin'

I have a wife whose son is a Marine in the Persian Gulf. I can't keep her away from CNN. Understandable I guess. She is scared ****less for her boy.
I try not to spend to much time watching. I worry enough without seeing it for 24 hours a day.

CWUgirl is right, Fox news is fair and balanced. She was also right on saying Michael Moore should have been drug out back and beaten except he should have been beaten right there in front of the cameras. I couldn't grab the remote fast enough to change the channel.
Mr. Cowlitzfisherman was right on about CNN. They surely push their liberal agenda. Nothing but Fox News for me.
Steve, you can find humor anywhere. You always make me laugh. Keep it up.
