Any reports from there? It looks like the counts are starting to look pretty good. I usually look for about 1K a day before I will got try to fish these areas. Probably head down South to fish Thursday and Friday. Wondering if I should stay around Longview or try down farther?

I think the owners got sick of the litter, people not paying, and just out right abuse of the land. There is a gate now and just a few guys have the key...this is for sure....they are ticked off. I guess there was a conflict last year when the owner went to check the pay box and confronted a person who did not pay, there was a big hassle and that ended it for everyone..50 guys got keys and passes they wear on there persons when on the property..the local cops are aware of this and will be in the area more often, the owners are ticked...... frown

Man that is a real bummer. I knew it would happen though. I can't believe people are such slobs sometimes. I packed garbage out everytime, but it didn't help. How did they determine who got the keys? I sure would be willing to pay for one or trade some boatrides with someone who had one.

Most of the guys who got keys work in the camas paper mill, the locals have already said they are going to rip the gate out but like i said the cops will be there... and if they want in, they are to let em in then lock the gate and call the cops..the owner aint taking any bull... frown

I just got off the phone with WADFG region #5 regarding this input on the wind river. It seems that the lady that owns the property was approached by some fishermen, who made her an offer for exclusive entrance on her property. Thereby closing the gate for the rest of us. The WADFG has been making attempts to correct this, so we can all enjoy fishing the Wind. I would like to know how Adverse possession, or open & natourious practices would affect this closure. (This refers to the practice of gaining access by a certain route for a number of years) I think that people have been going through her property for a long long time. Any input???? what

One thing the WDFW could do is close this portion of the river. That would certainly curtail this latest economic enterprise.

I agree with barnettm, it would shake things up down there. I wonder if she is claiming the tolls taken on her 1040? I talked again with the game department, and it was said that the group who convinced her to do this was the Washogal fishing club, and rumor is that they paid $100.00 each per key, and 15 were given to her friends. The Skamania Sheriffs Dept stated it was her property, and she could do what she wanted. The game dept. also stated that they had put port-a-potties in there in effort to make things better. I can see why she is pissed though, I see how some people are real slobs. I may call the game dept and raise your question, or at least close the waters on that side of the river due to privatization. thumbs

I can see how she could charge for access to the shoreline she owns, but can she really close access to the forest? Seems like people should still be able to drive past her place.

The B.P.A. is the only other one who has access and of course the Indians....
