Many things about Clinton I didn't personally care for at all. But his total disregard for how the public viewed the Office he held astounded me. Half the things he 'pulled' would get you fired from your job just for thinking of doing them. And as an Atty. lieing to a Federal Judge? "Depends upon what your definition of 'is,' is?" If you pulled that stunt, high probability you'd spend a few nights in the 'gray bar hotel.' But then again, you're not the President.

Grandpa - And lunch tasted good too - thanks. It inspired me to call KVI and call them fascist pigs !!! :p Actually, I have done somewhat of an interesting exercise. I listed all of the presidents since Ike (my lifetime) and rated them on my perceived sense of their morality and my perceived sense of their effectiveness as President. I then gave them a combined score. This raised Jimmy Carter up (good man morally) and raised Bill Clinton up (good job as President). I did this prior to replying to BBVD's post so that when I stated that GW is one of the worst in my lifetime, it came from somewhere other than my a$$. What I found out was that out of a total possible score of 8, no President scored more than 6 or less than 4. And yes, GW Bush scored a 4 (along with Lyndon Johnson) and Bill Clinton scored a 6 (along with Eisenhower, Kennedy, and George Bush I) The rest - Nixon, Ford, Carter, & Reagan scored a 5. Now, admittedly, I really don't know about the moral characteristics of these men and my judgement of their strength as President is truly subjective. However, it was interesting that both parties were represented at every score. I don't know if that means I have no courage of conviction or if it means that I have matured to the point that I no longer see politics as black and white - just the many shades of gray!!! And thanks again for lunch, I will buy next time. It was great to see you again.

Aunty; Over 18 - it's none of my business. Under 18 - that's statutory rape and illegal.

I have to agree with Lead Thrower and Harley. I don't see how anyone who truly cares about the environment could vote for Bush. He has done all that he can do do away with laws protecting our clean air, water, and fish and wildlife habitat. What he allowed in the Klamath Basin alone was unreal....more than 30k salmon killed! It's very clear that he works for his personal agenda and campaign supporters mainly the oil industry, logging, farming, etc. He signed in the largest farm bill in history and is abolishing environmental laws that were put in place by the Carter Administration.
When Bush took office we were out of debt for the first time in decades. In two years, he had us back into a record-setting debt. In the small town I live in business' are dropping like flies, people simply aren't making it because of our economy. I haven't made a dollar on my retirement since the day he took office. I hope he isn't reelected.

larryb,
to say bush was appointed by the supreme court is just more liberal spin...the only thing the US supreme court did was prevent the Florida supreme court from overstepping its jurisdiction.
the Florida state constitution sends close elections to the state legislature for a tie breaking vote, gore didnt want to have that since the FL legislature had a republican majority, he knew he wouldnt have a chance there. so he tried to sidestep the FL constitution and went to the FL supreme court to get another recount...3 recounts later with 3 different creative ways of counting hanging, dented chads (and gore still losing after every recount) the US supreme court finally stopped that nonsense.
yes, it was close in Florida. and yes, i thank God gore lost!!
its sad that some people still cant let go and get on with their lives.
some of you guys really need to get outside and relax...and catch some fish!!

I remember something you typed before about "running some teacher out of town, and their queer that way??" (didn't make sense in your post either...) I wanted to comment then, but I wrote it off to ignorance. I'm not sure how my previous posts have anything to do with teaching mathematics, but somehow you made that inference. To each his own I guess. I'll be sure to start a more informative thread on quadratics later, please be sure to chime in!

Boy, how did I guess?!? This used to be such a great site, where we talked fishing and rivers, and conservation. I haven't been here for a few weeks, just figuring it would be more "Us vs. Them" lately, and sure enough! United we stand?? Riiiiiight!
While I'm here, I'll leave you all a CURRENT event to ponder:
WHAT IS PRESIDENT BUSH IS DOING FOR OUR MILITARY?
SLASHED: $28.8-BILLION from Department of Veterans Affairs
CUT: millions from veterans’ disability, rehabilitation, pension, education, compensation programs.
ABANDONED: ½-million vets backlogged in the compensation system, the 300,000 waiting 7 months for a medical appointment, the 40% of Vietnam vets that are homeless.
FORCED: veterans to pay higher and higher fees for medical services, and blocked some enrollments altogether.
CENSORED: VA Medical Centers that advertised what vet benefits are available.
STYMIED: investigation of Gulf War Syndrome, while an astonishing one-third of Gulf War I vets are disabled.
BLOCKED: The World Health Organization’s research on the effects of radioactive depleted uranium munitions used in Gulf War I "Desert Storm" Southern Iraq in 1991.
ORDERED: without conscience more than 100,000 young Americans to the radioactive contaminated desert area of Iraq, to use the same radioactive munitions!
Our government has abandoned our vets. What can our current troops expect?
