I have been trying quite a few commercially available Smoked Salmon Products lately. The best was a Smoked Salmon from WA that I bought at a fishing show. It was Alder smoked.
Then the Tasmanian Smoked Salmon is the second best tasting product ; I get that from Trader Joe's. It is Ocean Farm Raised Atlantic stock and is smoked with a Tasmanian native wood of some sort. TJ's has another Loch raised import Smoked Salmon from Scotland that is also very good and this one is Smoked in OAK.
Two other's from that store are USA Pacific Salmon varieties and they don't fare well with my pallet. They taste too strong/fishey.
So, I realize many of you on this board catch a fair amount of fish and smoke them yourselves. However, can you recommend a place to buy Smoked Salmon that will mail order it? A website referral would be great. I like the Alder/Honey best. Thanks.

Flymaker- One of the most widely available commercially smoked salmon is http://www.portchatham.com/ They make a pretty good product. another good bet is http://www.justsmokedsalmon.com/ My parents have ordered from them and like their stuff. One other idea is go buy a smoker and some chips and start experimenting with different brines and recipes yourself. just go get the salmon at the supermarket. In the end you might save some money over ordering a bunch, and feel great about making it yourself! Use the search feature on this forum for TONS of info on brines and other tips.

Buy a little chief smoker and some salmon from the store. Smoke it yourself. You will never go back to the store bought.

Look up Johnnys seafood company on the internet. They're based in Tacoma and put out a great product. Before I started smoking I used to give them my steelhead to smoke for something like 1.50 per pound. It turned out phenomenal. However, if you purchase smoked fish often, do buy yourself a little chief. They're only 50 bucks.

RK, forgot to mention, I'm located about 2 miles away from you, on the west side of Hwy 9, slightly north of you, but south of Frontier Village.

Thanks all. I will look up Johnny's and also see about getting my own smoker. The store bought smoked fish is VERY expensive, and some of it is not too tasty. So maybe it is time to light a fire.

Some of those others are fine, but if you want only Olympic Pen. Wild Salmon, try Hegg & Hegg Smoked Salmon in Port Angleles. They have been in business since 1952 and smoke with only sea salt and alder smoke. Also mailorder www.heggandhegg.com Best of luck!

Got one of those about 4 years ago, smoke fish or white meat, jerky of any kind and you can even bbq. ![](http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung/spezial/psylosmilies/willy.gif)
