I am looking into getting a Curado BSF to use exclusively for steelhead fishing. I was wondering what people thought about the line capacity of this reel. Does it hold enough line and do you notice a difference in performance when you get a little low on line? Thanks for any help.

It is a decent reel for steelhead fishing. I have never had any line capacity problems with it. the bsf still has its problems but i would not say that line capacity is among them. there seems to be some gear stripping or braking problems but I have not experienced it with mine. With a full spool and all the brakes off- that reel can cast along way! amost as far as the abu 6500 (although it is not half the reel). I have only had mine for less than a year so I cant tell ya how it hold up long term. it is easy to clutch and I would recomend it as an entry level reel.

As for line capacity, I would recommend the "regular" Curado if you want a few extra yards.

I have a regular and BSF, and honestly I don't see a difference in either performance or castability.

As you said, the less line there is on your spool the shorter your casts get.

If you don't care about $$, get yourself a Calais. Love mine, and wish I could buy more!!

It only holds something like 20 yds less then the normal Curado. I thought about getting one but heard they are not any better then the normal 201's as far as casting goes.
