I was up there yesterday. If you come, you might want to bring a shovelfull of your own dirt to stand on. All the salmon holes were packed - and that was on a weekday, at 5:30 a.m.

You might find a little peace on some of the steelhead water up in the canyon.

Good luck!

Tad, I have been living here in Longview for the last couple of years and this is the first year that I have had the opprotunity to fish this late for springers...any way is it always like this during the spring run? I usually fish from Jan to March and then go back in the summer. Thanks for your info.

I hit the Kalama hard on Friday. Nada. Not a hit. I started at the Red Barn Hole around 5:30am and continued downstream. Most of the holes had anglers. There wasn't any space to be found. There were plenty of drift boats as well. I saw one fish landed - in the lower river below Modrow. I pitched eggs and shrimp mostly. It was a disappointing day. I heard most of the fish were being caught in the canyon. I tried fishing at the deadline but no luck there either. Saw one guy lose a big one and heard a couple springers were taken at dawn. But nothing was moving for me.

Didn't see any cougars either........ wink
