I am building a addition to my parents house, I had to cut the gable open to tie in the roof and for air flo and I tarped it because of the rain. its been open for a few days and I did not work on it yesterday and apparently a crow made a nest in there and since I tarped it off its really pissed, dive bombed me twice and always positions himself in a tree so he can get a strait look at me the entire time I'm outside.
my buddy came over to check it out and I went to the tarp and he went for me but my friend yelled at it and it went in the tree 20 ft away and just started squawkin. cant work until the crow is removed so I guess I'll just go fishing, later

12 guage would solve that problem. And you could plead self defense on yoyr way to jail.
(just kidding) I had a Red Tail Hawk start to build its' nest in the top of a crane boom on a job I was doing. It had started the nest over the weekend. We dropped the boom and got the sticks and grass out before any of the local tree huggers noticed it. It wouldn't have been very cost effective to leave the crane boom undisturbed the whole length shoot of nesting time for the babys.

Saw exactly that happen with a small dragline, when an Osprey built its nest in the top of the boom.Shut that machine down for quite awhile.

Just remember there is only 2 ways to shoot Crow's in Washington....

1: During Crow Season -- Oct 1, 2003 -
Jan 31, 2004

or

2: Any Crow may be taken during the act of
depredation

(NOTE: Depredation - the act or an instance of robbing, plundering, or laying waste)

Now I was told (by a game dept guy) that if you had a sandwich laying out and a crow came into take it you could kill it.

Now would that be like baiting if you put the sandwich out just to shot the crow? And would we have to have a new law about crow baiting?

If you shoot a crow at a time other than one of the legally defined times don't say anything here or someone (or several someone's) will give you all kinds of grief... and call you all kinds of names... beathead

Pleading "Depredation" while having a crow call in your possession may cause a problem, however. slap

On a remote B.C. lake we used to have problems with ravens getting into and scattering our garbage. We simply placed a couple of mouse traps baited with meat scraps into the garbage and watched as the first raven flew off with a mouse trap on its beak. Never had another problem. Smart critters.

Oh yea the crow is smart!!!

I remember as a kid that all you had to do was pick up a stick and point it at a crow and they would fly away... probably to many kids like me shooting at them...

And then last year and just recently I saw a show on (I think Discovery) show that the crow was the second smartest animal...

http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?articleID=00007DE9-08AC-1D54-90FB809EC5880000

The show rated them on three categories (Social interaction, Tool use, ???)...

Anyway they are interesting and sometimes a pest....
