My uncle is heading to the Kenai next week,and wants to take his own reel. What kind of reel will hold up to the Kings on the Kenai. He's gonna be there for 3 days and doesn't want to spend a fortune.

Try a 6000 Ambassaduer or a Shimano GT 100 or 200 should be all you would need.

Use a good quality line around 30 or 40#s and you can handle most fish.

The Ambassaadeur 6500 series are a good reel, and the SSC is around 50$. I use 6501's and only change the handles to double from single, works great even after a few dozen of those heavy Kenai fish.

What are the Shimano GT 100 or 200? Do you mean the Calcutta? They are a CT 100 or 200.

Guess they changed the numbers on them since I bought some several years ago.
