The tropical water has moved in as close as 16 miles off the coast of ORegon and Washington. We are thinking of going to WEstport and running out for some yellow fin. Anyuone out there have any info on the tuna fishery off of Washington?

Aug 29 is a great date for a typical year.
My tips would be bring ready to eat food. Space is tight on the boats, even with only 10 people fishing. My favorite jig was always a 1 Ounce Kroc with a gold finish. pretty much any 1 to 2 ounce jig will do that has any flash. Dark greens or Blues. Bring your own rod & Reel if you can. I use a 7" calstar WC-870-C rod with 30Lb line to cast an anchoive. The big trick is to get your bait in the water ASAP after a jig fish is hooked and out past the blue sharks that will be all around the boat.

Sounds like a good time. I have a tuna trip scheduled with Ocean Charters in the middle of August. I believe I'll be on the Lucky Pierre. First tuna trip for me.......can hardly wait. Leave Friday return Sunday. I think Ms. Magoo's skipper is Dave??...... if so, he's a good skipper.
