what techniques are out there for cleaning a smoker?? mine is pretty baked on, caked on nasty(but i guess it gives lots of flavor)...bout that time to get it ready for the upcoming season...by the way, i got into some pinks today...i guess the salmon season for the bankbound angler has begun(FINALLY!!!)

I can't imagine why you would want to clean your smoker. The more gunk the better. It's all good flavor enhancer. Jeesh, if it gets thick enough you may not need to use any wood chips.

I'd never clean a seasoned smoker. It takes a long time to get that to build up. I compare it to seasoning a cast Iron dutch oven. i wouldn't have a clean smoker unless it was a new smoker.

you really should burn your smoker out, buy using a torch or weed burner, dont use soaps or detergents.. the more crud the better really isnt safe as far as bacteria, smokers can be a haven for this.....

Oven cleaner will work when it gets too ugly. I also take my racks and burn them off on the BBQ every time. Then give the whole thing a big dose of pam when done to protect it from rust, etc.
