With the clear weather this is a great week to spot the ISS. These are times and degrees of elevation and direction for the peak of the crossing. You will be able to see the ISS rising from the West to these spots at these times. The small number at the end is the apparent magnitude or brightness. The smaller the number the brighter. If you are not in Seattle the direction or elevation may vary, but you can easily get the info at www.heavens-above.com

28 July 21:29 (10:29pm) N 39 degrees .8
23:02 NNE 49 degrees .2
29 July 22:07 N 39 .6
23:43 WNW 49 .1
30 July 22:45 NNE 65 -.4 (very bright!)
1 Aug 22:24 NNE 88 degrees(STRAIGHT UP) -.7 If you have never seen the ISS, this is one of the easiest, brightest crossing that occur!

For some real sport, try spotting this Iridium Flare

1 Aug 23:50 -7 241 wsw 30 degrees

This is a communication satellite and is visible for only a few seconds, it will be sometime during that minute. If you are really cool you can play it off as a UFO!

Sky-guy,
Gutz is probably in a recliner with a beer staring at the heavens.
Wonder if I can see it through all the air pollution here? Most likely not.

I saw it two nights ago. One of the brightest sattelites(sp) I've ever seen. It should only get better soon.

Hey GutZ,
Thanks for the info. Took my son out and had a spectacular awesome show for a few minutes as the ISS went over (0.00 msgnitude). Also went 1.4 miles west after I punched in my location on the site and watched the sky at 36 deg. altitude at 234 degrees and saw the Irridium Flare at six minutes after midnight. It was a minus eight magnitude flare so was damn spectacular. Could of easily seen it in broad daylight! Listed that sight in my favorites for sure. Pretty amazing how their computer program can send me such specific info. Thanks again. I understand the Ellensburg Star Party was last weekend. Would like to go to one of those sometime. Was way up in the Cascades on a BSA back packing trip so couldn't make that one. The stars were great up there back in the sticks as well though. Signing out, uyellowdirtydog
