Heading out this weekend to Klaloch Campground and was thinking about fishing the Hoh in the evening. Has anybody been getting into any fish?

I was only able to get two hours in Saturday afternoon just outside the National Park. I was flyfishing and there where two other fly fishermen out there too. One guy lost something big before we could see it and I caught a 14 inch dollie. None of the 5 people in pontoon boats that passed hooked into anything either. Maybe it was just a bad day, at least I was fishing!!!

I was there playing banky Friday and Saturday. Things must have turned way off 'cause out of 10 boats I polled, only one had one fish. No Banky's I talked to even had a takedown.

boys you gotta hit the hoh early. shuts down around 10:00am. our second day on the water was better due to the overcast conditions. did throw a green butted snunk and a bunny leech into a pool we had allready pulled a nice steelhead out of. with not a touch.

On Saturday it was at about a foot visibilaty. But I'd rather fish the clearer blue-green silt than the gray-white silt of the Carbon and Puyallup Rivers.

Anyone know if the Hoh gets an august run of jacks? Also, are the sea runs in yet? I know the river is low but i figured that if there were any sea runs in the river it wouldn't be too hard to find them and pick em off with my fly rod. Since the river is so low what size hook should i use for chinook? 2/0, 1/0 or something smaller? Also how big a spin n glo or corky can i get away with?

Some years jack fishing is pretty good, but that was when they had to be released before september. I'd go elsewhere to fish searuns specifically but catching the occasional one is always nice.

Unless it rains, I'm thinking the ideal window between the time the glacier murk clears and the river gets excessively skinny may be gone. River is probably clearing up with cooler weather but low. I'd plan on going small unless its still murky.
