Anybody fishing the Poggy Derby this weekend at Sinclair Inlet?? I will be out there with Rick68 in his Bayliner, if you see us say "Hey"! and good luck out there.

I have fished there three times this week and haven't got a bite yet. I was going to go this weekend, but either I am really unlucky there, or the fish are very shy. I haven't fished near dark, and I didn't go at the crack of dawn, but I haven't had much sucess there since 2001 according to my fish log.

I agree with haifisch, that it may be a little early and the numbers are not in yet. Last year the derby was the second or third weekend in Aug. We did well but nothing big then. I fished Tues. night and saw one boat catch 2 small fish about 5 and 10 or so, but that was it for 25 boats, and we did not get a bite. I think I will be at southworth Sat morning to avoid the crowds.

UM and I were just out there this am/early pm. UM had a couple of shakers, me, and my outstanding luck latley, snagged a net which just about broke the dr cable, but luckily just frayed it. Have some repairs and beer to drink before the derby tomorrow! Good luck to all!!

I thought it was early too, and I am amazed that the top fish was 24 pounder? I fished there extensively to prep for this and saw nothing, and then the experts pull a rabbit out of the hat...
