Are the Nisqually still netting Sunday noon to Thursday? Thanks if you know. Went down there last night and didn't see any fish at all. Went to Mcallister Creek in the morning and about every 5 boats had a king from around the green bouy. Anyone have any luck on the river itself?

SD,
The netting schedule is noon Sunday to noon on Wednesday.
I netted a nice King (adult with a little color) for a guy last Thurs evening, just before dark on main gravel bar below Mounts Rd. Still no big numbers here, just a push of fish or two on the tidal surge.
It should start perkin with consistency any day now.
good luck
RL

If they come in head first why net them on a gravel bar?
Sounds fishy to me!

All depends on how fast said gravel bar drops off.

RN,
Why all the speculatin? Its pretty freakin sad when someone cant post a damn report with out the third degree from "keyboard gamies".

I dont have to elaborate but for the sake of not being labled anything derogitive I will.
The guy in question hooked the fish well above the gravel bar and walked it down to where I was standing, the end of the bar, to get it out of the way of others. The gent in question was not using heavy line and only had hip waders. I personally thought he could have "beached" the fish, but he asked for a net, I had one, Im a nice guy, end of story.
BTW the fish was hooked in the corner of the jaw on , believe it or not, a corky/yarn combo.

The only thing "fishy" about this story is the end result....a fish in the net, hooked legally.

Hope that clears things up for you.

RL,
RELAX.
Seems your the only one giving such vivid reports.
Why not just put a freaking map on this BB so everyone and there brother know when and were to go. You must like all the other wannabee fishermen and GI's out there since you are such a nice guy.
If you want alot of people in your hole I can help you out with that.
What was I thinking, you already did that yourself.

Just kidding, but really.

No bad blood, but if you lived down here you would understand, we don't need any advertisement.
Have you seen how bad the trash gets, and every year it gets worse. The bar you speek of is taken care of by fishermen. Seems some people give a damn. But most of the access is dumped on. We can hardly keep up with it all.
Please pack out what you pack in!
Can't we all just get along?

Nut,
Yeah lets all get along. Lets sort a few things out first.

1. "Seems your the only one giving such vivid reports"

No, I said a guy hooked and landed a fish, your the one who wanted more details.

2. "If you want alot of people in your hole I can help you out with that.
What was I thinking, you already did that yourself."

There was alot of people in that hole long before any bulletin board report, lets not kid ourselves.

3. " You must like all the other wannabee fishermen and GI's out there since you are such a nice guy. "

Why yes I am, thanks. Sorry we're all just "wannabes" and "GI's" in comparison to your status. I can assure you, Im far from being a wannabe ( I fish at least 100-130 days a year) but I am a GI (and mighty proud of anyone who is)

4. "The bar you speek of is taken care of by fishermen. "

Yes it is, your truely included, thanks for noticing.

5. "No bad blood, but if you lived down here you would understand, we don't need any advertisement"

I live probably as close as you do and consider it my "home river" and Im aware more advertisement is needed, but since you kept the thread going, it sure is happening wink

Cool, now Ive got that off my chest, lets all get along.

Yes they net starting at noon Sundays.. I saw them doing it 2 weeks ago so I have personal experience smile They seemed to stay on the lower 1/2 mile or so of river though,

They had some pretty fish too.

I am a "GI" as well from Fort Lewis, and because of my chosen military specialty, patrol Trotter's Woods, which is where most of the fisherman are off of Mounts Road. Yes, the trash is bad, but my fellow MPs are in that area many times daily and check licenses and access passes. We do our part to keep the trash (people as well as the physical kind) out of the area, but need the help of the public, so please, pack it out, and if you know of anything shady going on down there, call the MP station at 967-3107, and I will personally come down there. Hope to see you all down there soon! Good luck fishing!

The mp's are serious on the old Nisc..
I wouldnt recomend fishing there without the proper ID, they mean business.
