I have found the vinyl covered flooring in my sled has dry rot. I want to replace the floor.
It appears to have been plywood covered with boat floor covering. Any suggestions?

You can get some marine plywood to replace your floor with. Then one of the fishing supply places.(3rivers?)should have the vinyl. They are both spendy.I'm not sure of a price for the plywood. But Fishermans in portland wanted about $22-$25 a yard for the vinyl.
I ended up using outdoor carpet for about $4 a yard. Not in my sled though. This was for a boat we use at the canal.
Some of the other guys here might have some better ideas.Aluminum maybe.

Pressure treated plywood or fiberglass coated plywood would be alot better than marine plywood for a floor in direct contact with water. The non-slip vinyl is available all over town and in lots of marine catalogs...It is important to install it properly by full spreading the adhesive with the proper trowel. Some materials can have the seams heat welded for a water proof floor.

Hi we have used a plastic non-skid board by king plastics made for marine use. E-mail me for more info and I will point you in the right direction.

Had the same problem in my big drifter ... had the fellas at Three Rivers Marine put a diamond plate floor in. LOVE IT!

I would suggest doing the same. It'll be a little pricier to start, but you won't have to do it again and you should lose some weight smile

I agree with Bob on this one...Three Rivers is a great shop and the idea of a diamond plate floor is great. No wood is good.

If you're lucky enough to be there when they have it, there is no other way to go. Boeing surplus (Kent) from time to time will sell 4'x8' sheets of 5/8" honeycomb graphite composite sheeting (the sheets were $15 a piece 4 years ago). Don't know whats wrong with it but ask me if I care! A whole sheet must weigh all of 35-40lbs and is strong as steel. It takes a little more prep work to lay down though. I countersunk the screw heads in mine. First you have to drill throught the top layer only, take a nail and clear out any adjacent cells and fill it up with epoxy. After the epoxy sets up your free to drill your hole and countersink as, necessary. I put indoor/outdoor carpeting over the top of mine, but will probably change to something else in the future. doesn't really matter what you put on top of it. Advantages are it will never rot, ever - will outlast you even if your 16! you can drop a 50 lb anchor on it (by accident) without breaking a whole in the floor, and it doesn't squeek like wood. Won't swell when wet or shrink when dry.

Good luck!

I agree with hard head, the wide varity of poored or laminated products for this are endless, look around especially at surplus places and even the companys that build the expensive stuff sometimes have blemished items that they sell cheap, Sail boat builders and boat builders are usually quick to offer sugestions, so make some calls.....DJ

I may go with Bob's idea, the diamond plate. Any thought on placing foam between the plate and hull as long as you don't plug drain holes. Bob, do you have anything between the plate and the ribs ? ie. insulation etc..

What kind of cost $$ ?

Nothing added on my floor ... straight on the runners. They should be able to advise what's best for you.

No idea what the cost would be for your sled, I'm sure they'd be happy to give you an estimate if you give them a shout smile

I have diamond plate in my Driftboat. I will never have to deal with it again. Good stuff.
