You could probably hit the dental surgery school at UW to have the work done. They are cheap. And after every root canal I have had, I have not had any interest in going fishing, so I wouldn't plan on any great trips, at least until the next day.

Hey uwfishgirl… I have had a number of root canals and don’t think that I would plan on fishing afterward!

I would also be very careful of going to The Great White North for dental work (or Mexico for that matter)… We had a family member pass away this past year, that died from Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (“CJD”) which is related to Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (“BSE”) or “Mad Cow Disease. This is a very rare thing but so far science hasn’t been able to really nail down “what, where or why” for this disease. But the hospital and funeral staff used extreme care and there were special conditions for burial because of the disease.

Now, the reason for the above story… the hospital staff had to ask a bunch of question… but the ones that interested the family was because they repeatedly ask about dental work either in Mexico or Canada. So we finally pushed as to why this was so important. They said that both countries had a higher than normal rate of mad-cow and CJD… so be careful up North!!!! Cheaper may cost you in the long run!!!

Good Luck

My grandpa, no not G2 thankfully, gose all the way to Trail B.C. North of Spokane to get his retainers made. He says that he has gone there to get all his dental need for the last twenty years. He saves hundreds of $$$ each trip. Then again, he and a couple of his buddies own a condo in Roslin, near Trail, and they ski at Red Mountain Ski Area most of the winter there.

Me and my family have all our dental work done up in Abottsford BC. at doctor Richard Chan's office. 1-604-853-9455 or 853-6441.
It's about 1 mile up the hill, west from Walmart, on the same street.
My daughter just had braces put on last week and in 6 months so is my son. They take credit cards wink
The work I had done was about $700.00 cheaper up there thumbs

I would only worry about Mad Cow disease up there if your planning on eating an "under cooked steak" at the dental offices laugh

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

From my understanding, CJD and BSE are transmitted by prions from a diseased animal that are consumed by another individual. It has nothing to do with undercooked meat........you could burn the meat to cinders and the prions are still there and "infectious".

wabowhunter......did they tell you WHY the incedence of CJD is higher in Mexico and Canada and how it could be transmitted via dental work? I know that BSE is a serious concern in much of the world's meat supply(might want to ask the FDA why the origin of your meat isn't clearly marked) but I hadn't heard about any connection with medical or dental practices. Thanks in advance. PS: My sympathies for your loss. frown
